Cole Palmer signs new Chelsea contract
Chelsea is excited to share that Cole Palmer has agreed to extend his contract for an additional two years, now lasting until 2033.
Cole had an amazing first season with Chelsea after joining the club last year. He scored 25 goals in all competitions, won the Premier League Young Player of the Season award, and was also awarded the club's Player of the Season and Players' Player of the Season titles.
He broke or tied club records as he progressed, and established himself on the global platform with England. He became just the second player in the nation's history to score in a European Championship final.
'I am very happy to have signed this new contract,' Cole, who is 22 years old, stated. 'I accomplished a lot in my initial season here and I hope to keep having wonderful experiences at this team, both individually and in terms of achieving success and winning trophies for Chelsea.'
Cole joined Stamford Bridge in August following his stint at Manchester City. He made a quick impression by scoring his first goal in only his third game for the Blues. Known for his cool composure, he quickly became a crucial player in our offensive strategies.
Cole scored important goals in important games during the first half of the 2023/24 season, especially in matches against Arsenal and Manchester City at home, as well as against Tottenham Hotspur away. He continued to score more goals in the later part of the season, including two hat-tricks at Stamford Bridge against Manchester United and Everton.
Cole made history by being the first Chelsea player to accomplish this in one season. He also joined an elite group as only the third player in Chelsea's history to score a minimum of 20 goals during their first season with the team.
He made a big impression on the world stage too. When he got his first chance to play for England in November 2023, Cole secured his spot in the team for the upcoming European Championship. Throughout the tournament in Germany, Cole played in five games and showed his skill by providing an assist in the semi-final and scoring a goal in the final when it mattered most.
Cole came back to Cobham last week to start getting ready for the 2024/25 season, and all the people at the club are looking forward to helping him grow and improve in the upcoming years.
