Cole Palmer has made history as the first player in the Premier League to net four goals before halftime, leading Chelsea FC to an early advantage in a thrilling match against Brighton.
The guests took the lead at Stamford Bridge before Palmer scored for the first time, leveling the game just 15 minutes after Georginio Rutter put his team ahead.
The England international quickly added a second goal from the penalty spot and then completed his hat-trick in just under ten minutes, scoring with a stunning free kick.
Carlos Baleba scored for Brighton, but there was still time in the first half for Palmer to net a fourth goal, finishing with a pass from Jadon Sancho to cap off an impressive performance.
Although players have scored four times in the second half before, Palmer's accomplishment stands out as one-of-a-kind in the history of the Premier League.
The 22-year-old had an impressive season last year during his debut in London following his transfer from Manchester City, helping the team qualify for European competitions again.
Following a season where he scored 22 goals, he found the net twice in the first five league matches under Enzo Maresca's leadership.
The first half could have been even more fruitful; Palmer had a possible fifth goal ruled out for offside and also hit the post during a wild 45 minutes.
