Radio 1's Big Weekend: Coldplay provide rousing festival finale

Coldplay put on a great performance to end the Radio 1 Big Weekend. They used lots of bright lights, fireworks, and confetti to make the show exciting.

The main performer played well-known songs like Viva La Vida, Yellow, and A Sky Full of Stars to delight the audience at Stockwood Park in Luton.

Various performers also took the Main Stage throughout the day, including Sabrina Carpenter, Vampire Weekend, and Olly Alexander.

The latest music arena similarly witnessed shows from singers beabadoobee, Olivia Dean, Teddy Swims, and CMAT.

Throughout the day, the weather varied and Sabrina Carpenter's performance began amidst heavy rain. However, the talented artist managed to uplift her devoted fans by bringing sunshine to the stage.

Coldplay gave a surprise performance of a "brand new song" titled Orange, which was inspired by the reports that some residents in Luton were hesitant to sing their classic hit, Yellow. Chris Martin disclosed this news before introducing the song during the concert.

Newsbeat interviewed AJ Tracey after his performance on the Main Stage and he expressed his happiness to have had the chance to perform there.

Becky Hill, Ella Henderson, Rudimental, and Nathan Dawe were among the performers who graced the Main Stage. They followed after one another to deliver stunning performances.

On Saturday, Raye gave a captivating and occasionally intense show that stirred up emotions.

She stated that since she had been eagerly anticipating opportunities like this for quite some time, she would regret not putting forth her best effort.

Charli XCX thrilled her followers in the crowded New Music Tent, creating a lively atmosphere reminiscent of a night out at the club.

She acknowledged feeling "extremely fearful" prior to stepping onto the stage, as she hadn't performed a "legitimate and full-fledged show in quite a while."
