15-year-old Gauff, the winner of the US Open, defeated Anca Todoni in just over an hour on Court One. She had a dominant performance, only losing a total of three games in her two matches so far.

This win allowed the American player to forget about her disappointing early exit from the All England Club in 2023. She was relieved to see that her path in the tournament had become easier after Aryna Sabalenka withdrew due to a shoulder injury.

The young tennis player, who is 20 years old, is expected to do very well at Wimbledon in the next two weeks. After that, she will be competing in the Olympic tennis tournament at Roland Garros and will then defend her title at the US Open in August at Flushing Meadows.

"I can be overly critical at times, but a 2-1 victory is satisfactory," Gauff admitted after her impressive 6-2 6-1 win, securing her spot in the last-32 round.

"It's like moments, I might have missed some shots that I usually make. But that's the nature of tennis, you're bound to miss some shots you normally wouldn't. I'm aiming to focus on winning in straight sets and playing cleaner."

Today, I can't be too harsh with myself. I noticed that on the court, I was getting more irritated than usual, especially considering the score.

Many players often experience a gap of several years between winning their first Grand Slam and their next. I hope to avoid falling into that pattern.

When it comes to having all these events happen at the same time, I haven't really thought about what's coming next.

Coco Gauff has a busy summer ahead with lots of tournaments to play in.

I definitely want to achieve victory as quickly as I can. I am often very hard on myself. I need to remind myself to be patient and appreciate the journey.

"When it comes to all these events happening close together, I haven't really considered it in advance."

Gauff will compete against the hometown favorite and 298th ranked player in the world, Sonay Kartal, in the third round after she fought back from some struggles in the second set to defeat Clara Burel.

Kartal, who had lost a two-break lead in the second set, won the match after two hours and 15 minutes with a skillful shot at the net. She is the first British female qualifier to make it to the third round since 1997.

Several first-round games needed to be finished on Wednesday, but they were postponed for two hours because of the rain.

After removing the covers, Elina Svitolina, who made it to the semi-finals last year, had to work hard to narrowly defeat Magda Linette in three sets.

Talented players Danielle Collins, Beatriz Haddad Maia, and Barbora Krejcikova managed to avoid being eliminated early in the tournament and advanced a day later than expected.
