Clocks go back on Sunday: An extra hour’s sleep or an extension to your Saturday night out

Clocks go back

We are prepared to delight in an additional hour of slumber this coming Sunday, as we bid farewell to British Summer Time (BST) and return to Greenwich Mean Time (GMT).

This long-standing ritual, indicating the conclusion of daylight saving time, indicates the nearness of the winter season – a sensation that everyone has experienced this week due to the extensive rainfall and floods.

Although there may be individuals who appreciate the additional hour of slumber, the reversal of clocks by one hour will result in earlier arrival of darker evenings and may lead to disturbances in one's sleeping routine.

Don't forget to set your clocks back! Make sure to change any clocks that need manual adjustment before going to sleep on Saturday. Your mobile phone and computer will make the time change automatically.

Take advantage of the additional hour in bed, or relish the tranquility of being awake while others are still sleeping.
