Take part in Doncaster’s Big City Conversation - City of Doncaster Council
The 'Big City Conversation' consultation is seeking the feedback and ideas of Doncaster dwellers and tourists regarding the future of the city centre.
The input collected from the survey will play a crucial role in determining the upcoming developments in and near the heart of the city. Moreover, the responses collected will furnish additional details helpful in shaping the city's 'Long-Term Plan for Towns' proposal to the authorities.
Doncaster's Mayor, Ros Jones, shared her thoughts about the city's centre. She said that there are plenty of wonderful places in Doncaster, and the city centre is the gateway to all of them. Over the past ten years, city centres have changed quite a bit, especially during and after the pandemic. Many people have started to shop online, and the large retailers have left town and city centres across the nation. That's why it's crucial to keep our city centre attractive and vibrant for people who want to live, visit, and work there. We need to ensure that people keep coming back to this lovely place.
Doncaster is known for its impressive sense of community and our determination to overcome difficulties, as well as being a very amicable and hospitable location, which sets us apart from others. We are the newest city in the north and strive to be the most lively.
I have a dream for Doncaster that involves expanding our city center to include greater cultural, recreational, educational, and residential options alongside healthcare facilities. It's imperative that we build better connections between all communities within Doncaster by offering a wider range of key services and opportunities.
In the past years, we've put in effort to bring life back to parts of the city center while also preserving our culture, history, and the beloved Doncaster Markets. We're feeling hopeful for what's to come and have more plans to enhance the area. However, we want to ensure that our actions align with the desires and necessities of the people of Doncaster. This is a chance for you to contribute to the future of our city center which belongs to us all.
We are aware of the problems that exist, and in our upcoming strategies, we will make an effort to address them. One of our goals is to enhance the security of the downtown area to make people feel more secure. In addition, we want to discover what would inspire individuals to come to our city center more often and what would make a beneficial impact. I urge all Doncaster residents to contribute to the dialogue. We want to hear what you value about your downtown region and what matters to you.
