Be more Chris Martin, says fan after Coldplay singer’s lift into Radio 1 gig

A fan who has a disability is urging individuals to emulate Chris Martin's actions after he offered her a ride to BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend event.

According to the PA news agency, Saundra Glenn expressed her frustration in trying to reach the accessibility box office at the entrance of the festival held in her hometown of Luton this past weekend. She shared that she had reached a point where she was considering abandoning her attempts and just going home due to the difficulty she encountered in walking there.

The 64-year-old woman was taking a break near a fence due to her osteoarthritis and issues with her hip, knee, and ankle. A black Mercedes people carrier pulled up next to her as she rested, and a woman in the front seat offered to give her a ride.

Ms Glenn, a member of the local community, reported that Chris Martin entered the vehicle through the rear entrance, which moved smoothly.

As I gazed over at the person in the passenger seat, I made it known to the lady accompanying me that entering the vehicle was inconceivable since the individual in question was none other than Chris Martin.

"He says: 'You are welcome to enter, feel free to come inside'."

Ms Glenn was transported to the festival with Martin. During the ride, they conversed about a multitude of subjects, including her efforts to improve the community in Luton.

According to Ms Glenn, the gentleman expressed that he enjoyed learning about her profession.

When I mentioned that I will turn 65 during this summer, the other person responded by saying that I look younger than that and advised me to not be concerned about my age. They suggested me to carry on with my current activities.

"I think he is a very pleasant individual, and I complimented him by saying, 'You have a kind personality.'"

Ms Glenn snapped some selfies with Martin and he even gave her a clue about a surprise he had in store for his performance later that night.

During their performance, Coldplay paid homage to Luton Town FC by playing a previously unreleased track named Orange, following a public demand from supporters. This new song was a special way for the band to honor the beloved local club.

Ms Glenn recounted, "He informed me that he has a surprise planned for the finale - I quipped, 'Are you perhaps transforming yellow into orange?'"

He expressed that he was unable to disclose that information, but assured that there will be something unique towards the conclusion. He delivered on that promise, and it was indeed exceptional.

Martin had to quickly exit the vehicle before Ms Glenn, but upon arriving at their destination, he instructed the staff to accompany her in a buggy and ensure she safely reached the accessible area of the festival.

Ms Glenn expressed that her supporters were very dedicated, as they stayed with her until she received her wristband.

I went to the seating section in front of the stage and witnessed Chris's performance - it was an amazing occurrence yesterday evening, and it's been the most incredible moment I've had in quite some time.

He has demonstrated that showing compassion and consideration towards others is the dominant force in the world.

Emulate Chris Martin's humble attitude and willingness to assist others, such as the instance where he offered a ride to an elderly individual, despite her youthful appearance.
