The EGOT is a highly regarded organization in the US entertainment industry, with many celebrities only needing one more accolade to earn this esteemed distinction.

Adele, Bruce Springsteen, Cher, and Dyke Van Dyke all have the potential to achieve EGOT status.

EMMY, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony Awards are the four major American performing awards, and people who have won all four of them are referred to as EGOT recipients.

To everyone's surprise, it was originally created in an episode of the television show 30 Rock that featured Tina Fey in 2009.

At 35 years old, Adele is just one accolade away from achieving EGOT status. In 2009, she snagged two Grammy Awards for Best New Artist and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance with her song Chasing Pavements. The only award left for her to win is the Tony Award.

Back in 2013, she got her hands on an Academy Award for Best Original Song due to her notable contribution to the James Bond flick, Skyfall. As of 2022, she added another major accolade to her name as she triumphed at the Primetime Emmy Awards for her exceptional concert presentation, Adele One Night Only.

Adele is an extremely well-known star who is just one award away from reaching EGOT status. EGOT stands for Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony Awards. Adele has already won three of these awards and now only needs to win a Tony Award to complete her collection. In a photo taken in 2013, Adele is pictured receiving an Oscar.

Dick Van Dyke, a renowned figure in Hollywood who is now 98 years old, has already received three prestigious awards in the 1960s. Amongst these are the Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Musical for his impressive performance in Bye Bye Birdie in 1961. The only accolade that has yet eluded him is The Oscar.

He received two additional awards in 1964, one being a Grammy for the Best Children's Album category for Mary Poppins, and the other being an Emmy for Outstanding Actor in a Comedy Series for The Dick Van Dyke Show.

Bruce Springsteen is hoping to secure an Emmy victory to add to his accolades after triumphing at the Grammys in 1985 with his win for Best Rock Vocal Performance, Male thanks to his song Dancing In the Dark.

At the age of seventy-four, the famous music icon was bestowed with an Oscar for the Best Original Song category in 1994, for his composition 'Streets Of Philadelphia'. And more recently, in 2018, he was awarded a unique Tony Award.

Cher, who is now 77 years old, has only one more award to win in order to complete her collection. She won her first Academy Award back in 1988, in the Best Actress category for her role in Moonstruck. The only award she has yet to win is a Tony Award.

Afterwards, the highly respected icon was presented with a prestigious award at the Grammy Awards in 2000 for her impressive work in the Best Dance Recording field with her song "Believe". Later on, she achieved yet another award, this time an Emmy win for Outstanding Variety, Music, or Comedy Special category for her remarkable concert tour, Cher: The Farewell Tour.

Achieving an EGOT is a noteworthy way to demonstrate diverse proficiency as it honors exceptional abilities in TV, music production, movies, and live theatrical performances on Broadway.

Similar to how achieving a grand slam in the world of professional tennis and golf is highly regarded, EGOT status is also highly prestigious in the realm of American entertainment.

At 98 years of age, the legendary Dick Van Dyke has accomplished three prestigious accolades from Hollywood, leaving only The Oscar as his final achievement. His first recognition came in 1961, winning a Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in the Musical category for his outstanding contribution to Bye Bye Birdie, as seen in the photo of that year.

Cher, who is presently 77 years old, deserves a Tony Award to complete her collection of top awards because she already won an Oscar in 1988 for her remarkable performance in Moonstruck, in the Best Actress classification.

Specifically, this award recognized her outstanding work as a supporting actress in the category of Variety or Music, whether for an ongoing or a one-time performance on The Muppet Show.

Elton John is now part of an exclusive group of people who have achieved EGOT status. This happened because he won an Emmy award in January of this year. He won the award in the Outstanding Variety Special (Live) category for his concert called "Elton John: Farewell From Dodger Stadium." This concert was streamed on Disney+. At the award ceremony, we can see Gabe Turner accepting the honor on his behalf.

Legendary actress Rita Moreno achieved a significant accomplishment back in 1977 when she won an Emmy award in the category of Outstanding Continuing or Single Performance by a Supporting Actress in Variety or Music for her appearance on The Muppet Show.
