Cher, Barry from the TV show EastEnders, and Don Draper from the TV show Mad Men are all featured in a strange new commercial together.

UKTV's commercial begins with two business professionals presenting the new streaming platform to the elderly pop star. They express their desire for her to assist in spreading the word about the service.

"Wait. I can visualize it clearly," she answers.

Next, Cher is shown in a series of quick scenes from popular TV shows on the channel, where she sings a new version of her classic song "I Got You Babe" from 1965.

She participates in karaoke with Shaun Williamson, who played Barry on EastEnders until his character was written off in 2004. Then, she presents her cake to the judges on MasterChef Australia, pitches an ad campaign to Don Draper from Mad Men, and catches a ride in Sons of Anarchy.

Fans are really looking forward to seeing the popstar perform with Barry, with one person commenting on X: "I never expected to see Cher singing with Barry from EastEnders today."

Another person expressed surprise at how Cher singing with old video clips of Barry from the TV show EastEnders was exactly what they needed that day.

"I Got You Babe" was a popular hit in 1965, reaching number one on the music charts in both the United Kingdom and the United States. Sonny & Cher's song stayed at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 for three weeks. In 1993, Cher recorded a version of the song with the animated characters Beavis and Butt-Head, which reached number 35 on the UK Singles Chart.

In 1985, the British band UB40 teamed up with American singer Chrissie Hynde to record a cover of the song. It reached the top spot on the UK Singles Chart and peaked at number 28 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart.

"Our goal was to make a bold advertisement for the launch of U in order to showcase the diverse range of high-quality shows and to make a mark in a crowded and competitive market," shared Scott Russell, creative director of UKTV, in an interview with PA.
