Cher revealed details about the moment she fell head over heels for her beau, Alexander Edwards.

The veteran performer, aged 77, was very open and honest about her romantic involvement with a 37-year-old music producer while being interviewed on Amelia Dimoldenberg's Chicken Shop Date series that was broadcasted on 1 December. Dimoldenberg asked Cher if she fell in love with her partner quickly, to which the singer replied, "Absolutely not."

Cher then reminisced about the beginning of her relationship with Edwards, whom she has been seeing since 2022, which started with some messages.

She shared that when she departed for Switzerland, he sent her a message enquiring about her destination. Upon informing him that she was headed to Switzerland and feeling a bit drained, he replied with an affectionate sentiment urging her to get some rest, ending with the use of three Ys.

Afterwards, the artist behind the song "Believe" expressed her honest response to the words chosen by Edwards, adding: "I thought to myself, he must not be familiar with me enough to add three Ys to the word 'baby'. I was a little angry."

Despite this, they kept in contact, with Cher mentioning that he simply began sending text messages while she was in Switzerland. She additionally mentioned the strange coincidence of how she developed feelings for her partner, given the counsel she had previously given to her friends about relationships.

She recollected advising her friends to avoid getting involved romantically with younger men as they were too advanced in age. She also warned them against falling in love through text messages. However, she found herself disproving her own theory.

Cher made an announcement on Twitter, which was formerly called X, in November 2022 about her romantic relationship with Edwards. She shared a photo of Edwards and informed her followers that her new partner treated her with utmost care and respect, making her feel like royalty. Cher also revealed that Edwards had already met her family, and stated that love doesn't follow any rules or calculations.

In the previous month, Cher expressed her thoughts openly about the advantages and disadvantages of being romantically involved with a man who is significantly younger than her. In a conversation with Extra, she discussed that although she is content with how her relationship is progressing, the 40-year age difference can occasionally lead to unforeseen problems, such as Edwards not comprehending her cultural references.
