Raheem Sterling fears Chelsea days numbered with João Félix set to join

Chelsea

Raheem Sterling is worried that he won't be playing for Chelsea anymore after not being included in the squad for the match against Manchester City. His position at the club has been weakened even more now that Chelsea has decided to sign João Félix from Atlético Madrid for a six-year contract.

Sterling, with three years remaining on a contract worth £325,000 per week, is feeling uncertain about his future at the club. He is seeking clear communication from the team after being left out of the recent 2-0 loss against City, a decision attributed to Enzo Maresca as a "technical choice".

The coach at Chelsea had already made it clear to Sterling that his position on the team had decreased. In a discussion last week, the coach advised the 29-year-old winger to think about his choices before the transfer window closes.

Maresca has many choices when it comes to players who can play in wide positions, and he has stated that he wants to reduce the number of players in his squad, which currently stands at over 30.

Félix's loan stint at Chelsea last year was disappointing, but the Portugal player has been eager to come back to Stamford Bridge. Talks about bringing him back started when Chelsea's deal for Atlético's striker Samu Omorodion fell through last week.

Atlético had to offload a player in order to raise funds for their €42m deal for Conor Gallagher, who only has one year left on his contract. Their insistence on selling Félix, who spent last season on loan at Barcelona, will allow Chelsea to sell the English midfielder instead of losing him for free next year. Gallagher, who had been in a difficult situation, is now expected to finalize his move in the next 48 hours.

Maresca will have to make room in his busy front line for Félix. The ex Benfica standout is a skilled playmaker who plays in zones on the field that are similar to Christopher Nkunku and Cole Palmer.

Armando Broja, Trevoh Chalobah, Ben Chilwell, Djordje Petrovic, Carney Chukwuemeka, and David Datro Fofana are all available for transfer. Napoli are actively seeking to acquire Romelu Lukaku, while Kepa Arrizabalaga is allowed to depart freely.

It is still uncertain whether Sterling will be treated the same as other players who are not in favor, like Broja, Gallagher, and Chalobah, who have been restricted by Chelsea from using first-team facilities as they look for new clubs.

Sterling is not anticipating playing a role in Chelsea's upcoming match against Servette in the Europa Conference League playoff. Chelsea supports Maresca's decision for the game.

For Chelsea, the challenge will be to sell Sterling, who has been with the team for a while now. Although there have been offers from the Saudi Pro League, Sterling has turned them down. Juventus has shown some interest in him, suggesting a possible trade deal with Chiesa. However, the costs may be too high for the Italian club.

Chelsea is feeling positive about following the profit and sustainability rules set by the Premier League. They are trying to reduce how much they pay their players, which puts Sterling at risk since he earns a lot of money. However, it will be difficult to find a buyer for him because many people are worried about the profit and sustainability regulations.

Sterling, who Chelsea brought in for £47.5m a couple of years ago, is not eager to depart the team and has been taken by surprise by the current situation. He participated in pre-season activities and was recently praised by Maresca as a key player. Some people were surprised to see Sterling featured in a promotional photo for Chelsea's new sleeve sponsor on Monday.

Maresca will have more players to choose from in the attacking positions as Chelsea has agreed to a deal with Atlético for Félix. This means Gallagher, who came up through Chelsea's academy, may move to the La Liga club. Chalobah, another player who grew up with the club, has been informed that he is not part of Maresca's future plans. However, he has not completely ruled out staying with his childhood team.

There have been no updates on Broja and it is known that there has been no strong interest in Chilwell yet, who was the vice-captain last season. Chukwuemeka, who was sidelined for a big part of the previous season due to a knee injury, did not play against City and is likely to leave the team. The midfielder, who could leave on loan or permanently, is searching for the right chance and has been linked with Napoli and Barcelona.

Chelsea and Napoli have been in discussions about Lukaku, but Chelsea may end up signing Victor Osimhen instead. They are considering a loan deal for Osimhen, but it is uncertain if Chelsea will agree to his salary requirements. Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly lost interest in the ex-Lille player.
