Let's learn more about Alejandra Bernabe! We interviewed our Spanish defender with some rapid-fire questions about Chelsea and the USA.
When Bernabe came back from playing on loan at Real Sociedad in Spain and joined her Chelsea team for the first time, we saw our pre-season trip to the USA as an ideal opportunity to learn more about the 22-year-old!
The Spanish player moved to Chelsea from Atletico Madrid last year and went back to Spain to play for Sociedad in the 2023/24 season. She played in 31 matches and scored one goal during her time with the team.
Following Bernabe's debut in a Chelsea jersey during our pre-season victory against NJ/NY Gotham in New Jersey, fans now have the opportunity to learn more about the individual off the pitch.
How would you sum up Chelsea FC in just three words?
A mindset of success, courageous and confident.
If you had the opportunity to be on the same team as any player from Chelsea, whether they are currently playing or have already retired, who would you choose?
I'm a big fan of Erin Cuthbert, both on and off the field. She's not only a talented player, but also a kind and approachable person. I've received a lot of support from her.
Which American athlete do you admire the most?
Do you follow a specific routine or superstition before a game starts?
I constantly find myself having to fold my shirt. It's a habit I've had ever since I was young, but I can't explain why I do it!
What has been the best part of your trip to the USA up to this point?
The initial game was quite pleasant.
I really enjoyed Wednesday because it was my first visit to New York. Times Square was bustling with energy and I had a great time making bracelets at Little Words Project.
Who is the top player you have ever had the opportunity to play alongside, and what makes them stand out to you?
Andreia Jacinto is a talented football player from Portugal who currently plays for Real Sociedad. I admire her skill and enjoy watching her play on the field. Additionally, she is a great friend of mine outside of the game.

Warm and compassionate, this individual has a tendency to be a bit over-the-top at times.
What are you looking forward to the most at Chelsea this season?
I desire to achieve trophies, but what truly matters to me is being present and getting the opportunity to compete in games.
Which famous American landmark are you eager to see in person?
Las Vegas! Many individuals frequently discuss Las Vegas, which piques my interest to visit and experience it for myself.
I would recommend visiting Times Square and Central Park in New York City. We were able to explore these attractions on Wednesday.
