Chelsea is very happy to share that their Academy goalkeeper, Katie Cox, has signed her first official contract with the team. The contract is valid until the summer of 2026, with the possibility of extending it for an additional year.

The young player has been a part of the Blues team since she was just eight years old when she joined our Academy. She has achieved great success in youth competitions, including winning the FA Youth Cup in 2021/22 and the PGA Cup in the season after.

In May 2024, the youthful goalie made history by being awarded the Women's Academy Player of the Year award for the first time ever.

After deciding to continue playing with the Blues, Cox expressed her happiness, saying: "I am proud to sign my first official contract with the team I grew up supporting."

"I can't wait to collaborate and compete with top-notch colleagues and athletes from around the globe. I'm thrilled to see what lies ahead in the future."

Manager Paul Green said: "We are excited that Katie has signed her first official contract as a professional player."

Katie is a promising young athlete who has thrived in our Academy program. She was named the Academy Player of the Year for the previous season, showcasing her talent and dedication.

We have great expectations for her future and are excited to witness her growth and progress in the years to come.

Cox has already gained experience playing with the main team as she was included in the team for the first game of last season's UEFA Women's Champions League semi-final against Barcelona. She is currently traveling with our team in the USA.

Internationally, Cox has played for England in the U-16s, U-17s, and U-19s teams. During the recent summer, she played in every game as the Young Lionesses made it to the semi-finals of the U-19s European Championships in Lithuania.

Apart from playing football, the young athlete is also very skilled at basketball and has competed for Great Britain in the sport at the Under-18 level.

All of us at Chelsea want to send our congratulations to Katie for signing her first pro contract. We are excited to see her thrive while representing our team.
