Captain Caicedo on first-leg success
Moises Caicedo was happy to help the team win 2-0 against Servette in the first match of our Conference League series - marking his 50th game playing for the club.
Taking on the role of team captain for the first time since becoming a member of the Blues, Caicedo led the team through a closely contested first half. It was Nkunku who broke the deadlock in the second half, creating a surge in energy for the team by winning a penalty and successfully converting it soon after.
During the first game, Noni Madueke scored the winning goal with a great pass from Enzo Fernandez. Moises was happy to win, especially after playing 50 games for the club and being the captain for the night.
The 22-year-old started by saying, "It felt great to wear the captain's armband for the first time with this incredible club. I am extremely proud."
I learned about it before the warm-up. The equipment manager informed me that I would be wearing it, which was unexpected. However, it turned out to be a great moment for myself and my family.
Moises is aware that there is more work to be done in Genova next week to secure our spot in the league phase of the Conference League. He believes that the Blues will gain confidence from the outcome of the match.
'We performed effectively and showed our skills on the field, resulting in a victory which was the top priority,' Caicedo added.
It is crucial to keep a clean sheet in order to boost our confidence and strive for a shutout in every match.
He also reserved a special message for the fans.
Moises emphasized the significance of the fans, stating that their support is crucial and greatly appreciated. He explained that their encouragement boosts the team's confidence during every game, which is very beneficial.
