Kamala Harris received a surprising show of support from British pop sensation Charli XCX as she kicks off her bid for the 2024 presidential campaign following Joe Biden's exit.
The vice president was named the top contender for the Democratic Party, leading to a surge in donations and endorsements from famous figures like Robert De Niro, Barbra Streisand, and pop singer Lizzo.
In the meantime, Charli XCX mentioned her newest successful album on social media by saying, "Kamala IS brat."
In her latest album "Brat", Charli defines the term as someone who carries cigarettes, a lighter, and wears a strappy white top without a bra.
Some critics in the pop world have labeled it as a move away from the polished and pristine image promoted on TikTok, embracing a more carefree and defiant approach instead.
"You remind me of that girl who's a bit disorganized, enjoys going out, and might say silly things sometimes," Charli described in a video on the social networking site.
"Someone who may appear confident but also has moments of vulnerability. They handle difficult situations with a mix of honesty and bluntness. Sometimes they can be unpredictable and make mistakes. They have a rebellious streak. You're a rebel. That's rebel."
Charli's blog post about Harris, which she posted on X/Twitter this past Sunday (21 July), has already received over 212,000 likes and 12 million views.
Harris's campaign headquarters quickly embraced the support by changing its background image to match the neon green and font from the album artwork of the "Girl, So Confusing" singer.

This past Sunday, Harris expressed her gratitude towards Biden for supporting her by endorsing her in his announcement that he would not seek re-election.
She stated that President Biden is once again demonstrating his commitment to serving the American people and our nation by making this selfless and patriotic gesture. This is consistent with his history of prioritizing the well-being of Americans above all else.
"I am thankful to have the support of the President and I am determined to earn and secure this nomination," she stated. "Throughout the last year, I have journeyed throughout the nation, engaging with citizens about the obvious decision in this significant election."
The Vice President is aiming for a complete turnaround as she goes up against former US President Donald Trump, whose team quickly tried to undermine her as a nominee.
"Kamala Harris is just as laughable as Biden," stated Chris LaCivita and Susie Wiles, who lead Trump's campaign. "Harris will be even more disastrous for the citizens of our country than Joe Biden."
Harris has been Joe's biggest supporter throughout his time in office. They have a close relationship and their records are intertwined. Harris will have to defend both the unsuccessful Biden Administration and her record on crime in California, which is seen as not strong enough.
Recent surveys have indicated that Harris is more popular than Biden in important demographic groups, such as young individuals and people of different races.
