Authorities reported that officers were targeted with projectiles during chaotic events in Glasgow on Sunday, just before the Scottish League Cup final featuring arch-rivals Celtic and Rangers.
Authorities noted that there were incidents of shattered windows, and law enforcement would implement stop-and-search measures to “maintain order and prevent serious violence.”
Videos circulating on social media seemed to capture scenes of flares being discharged in the heart of Glasgow, alongside groups of masked individuals sprinting through the streets. Shoppers were observed seeking refuge in a shop entrance while others rushed by in haste.

"In a statement, Chief Superintendent Stevie Dolan noted that there were several incidents today in Glasgow city center where people were involved in disorderly conduct and violence. He emphasized that any use of weapons or aggressive behavior is unacceptable, and that officers are prepared to intervene as needed to maintain safety."

Celtic and Rangers are both located in Glasgow and share one of the most intense rivalries in British soccer.
