Celtic vs Rangers: Brendan Rodgers promises no Old Firm complacency despite impressive start to season

Celtic vs Rangers

Brendan Rodgers, the manager of Celtic, is aware that their strong start to the season does not guarantee them a victory against Rangers in the upcoming Old Firm match.

They will play at Parkhead on Sunday, the game will be shown live on Sky Sports. The Hoops are aware that a win would give them a five-point lead over their rivals in the Premiership, with only four games played so far.

Philippe Clement has not yet been victorious in an Old Firm match, and Rangers have not secured a win in the eastern part of Glasgow since 2021.

Sunday, September 1st at 11:30 in the morning, the game will begin at 12:30.

Even though they have been very successful in the Old Firm matches, Rodgers is advising everyone to be careful.

"We put in a lot of effort during the pre-season to improve certain parts of our game, and we feel like we are in a strong position now," he shared with Sky Sports News.

In these games, you can't just expect to keep playing well without putting in the effort and gaining experience.

This is something we have always been cautious about at Celtic because it can be very risky to have that mindset.

We have been performing strongly, reaching a high standard during matches, whether we have possession of the ball or not. However, we must concentrate on all the finer points to ensure we maintain this level of play.

Celtic emerged victorious in the initial match of the previous season with a 1-0 win at Ibrox, followed by a 2-1 triumph at Celtic Park. The third encounter ended in an exciting 3-3 draw, with the Hoops ultimately clinching a 2-1 victory in the final league match.

Rodgers believes his team will be able to handle the pressure of this important matchup.

Matches between Celtic and Rangers, no matter the location, are always challenging encounters filled with intense emotions.

I believe our focus has always been on managing our performance, and we trust that the outcome will follow suit.

"It can be difficult because the games are very emotional and there are various unexpected events that can occur during gameplay."

We are constantly focused on our football game, striving to perform at our best. This is our main priority and we believe that if we put in the effort, the outcome will follow suit.

I have a dedicated team who have put in a lot of effort during pre-season and have been performing exceptionally well in the early stages of the season. They have shown great improvement.

"We just need to finalize a few more things in our preparation and then strive to perform at our full potential."
