Ewan Murray's Game Analysis

Celtic supporters would have been happy to see Kyogo celebrating with the Green Brigade at the end of the game. Despite some worries at first, it doesn't seem like the Japanese player is hurt.

Two members of the Celtic team address the press.

The scoreline of three-nil says it all. We played really well. I'm not convinced that the disallowed goal was actually offside. However, from that point on, we dominated the game.

The show was very powerful. Winning feels amazing, but if you lose, the two weeks until the next game can feel very long.

Just a heads up, McGregor announced his retirement from international football earlier this summer, which means he can finally take a well-deserved break.

Later today, there will be two more matches in Scotland: Hearts will be playing against Dundee United, and Kilmarnock will be facing off against Hibernian.

Sky pundit and ex-Rangers forward Kris Boyd is questioning which players from the Rangers team could make it into the Celtic team. He believes none of them would be able to because they lack strong leaders. Boyd feels the performance was disgraceful and hard to watch.

Here is a snapshot of the standings in the Scottish Premiership.

Celtic Beats Rangers 3-0

The Bhoys are the ones to celebrate. The anthem Roll With It by Oasis can be heard playing loudly at Parkhead.

In the 93rd minute of the game, Schmeichel pulled off an amazing save to stop McCausland from scoring. The ball ended up in front of the Rangers player inside the penalty area after Igamane's powerful shot was blocked, but Schmeichel managed to block his shot by positioning himself perfectly. Celtic has not let in any goals in the league so far this season.

90 minutes have been played in this match, and the referee has indicated that there will be an additional four minutes of stoppage time.

88 minutes: Taylor received a booking that didn't cost much, considering his great performance as a left-back for Celtic.

86 minutes have passed and Rangers still haven't won against Celtic in their last 13 matches. The last time they managed to beat Celtic was back in April 2022 during the Scottish Cup.

84 minutes into the game, it's interesting to note that only three Celtic players have achieved both over 100 goals and 100 assists for the club: Jimmy Johnstone, Henrik Larsson, and James Forrest.

82 minutes into the game, Carter-Vickers and Scales deserve praise for their performance. Dessers has been unable to get past the Celtic pair, who have also impressed with their ability to start attacks from the defense.

79 minutes into the game, there have been substitutions on both teams. Luke McCowan is making his debut after transferring from Dundee, taking the place of Hatate. Adam Idah has also entered the game, replacing Kyogo who seems to be injured. Will Brendan Rodgers be worried about Kyogo's condition?

The Rangers have made three substitutions. Raskin, Igamane, and Balogun have come on for Sterling, Cerny, and Propper.

77 minutes into the game, Celtic fans are celebrating by doing the Poznan dance. The atmosphere at Parkhead stadium is electric, with even the TV cameras capturing the excitement and energy in the air.

Celtic Scores Three Goals To Beat Rangers

McCausland, who has been playing poorly since coming on for Matondo, loses the ball and McGregor gets it. The captain shoots from 25 yards out and scores, with the ball deflecting off Sterling. This goal likely seals the game.

After 72 minutes, James Forrest enters the field for his 500th game with Celtic. The experienced player, who has achieved 24 significant victories, takes the place of Kuhn, who received a yellow card for a tough tackle on Jefte.

At the 70-minute mark, there are only twenty minutes left and it seems like Rangers will need to make a big change in their strategy to turn things around. Cerny is struggling on the right side for Rangers. Celtic is starting to pose a threat on the counter-attack, so it will be intriguing to see if Rangers take a more aggressive approach.

In the 68th minute, Lawrence was given a yellow card for a clear bodycheck on Engels, making him the fifth Rangers player to be booked. Celtic fans were upset that no advantage was given, but the referee believed there was a potential head injury.

In the 66th minute, Dessers was given a yellow card for a tackle that was a little late. It appeared that the Rangers striker also got a cut on his lip. He looked confused by the referee's decision to give him a card.

After a Celtic player's cross was deflected, Butland had to make a great save at the near post. It was a close call for Propper, almost scoring an own goal.

63 minutes into the game and Rangers missed another scoring opportunity, this time by McCausland who seems to be struggling. Jefte sent in a cross which McCausland received just six yards away from the goal, but he failed to score properly. It's disappointing because McCausland actually took the ball away from Cerny, who was in a better position to score.

At 62 minutes into the game, the atmosphere at Celtic Park becomes electric as Arne Engels steps onto the field for his first appearance with Celtic, taking the place of Paulo Bernardo.

61 minutes into the game, McCausland had a big opportunity as he received a long pass from Tavernier. However, the young winger hurried his shot and missed.

59 minutes into the game, Celtic had a great opportunity to score their third goal. Lawrence lost possession easily in midfield and McGregor quickly capitalized on it by passing a perfect through-ball to Kyogo. The Japanese player had a clear chance to score, but ended up missing the target with a delicate shot. Kyogo attempted to replicate Henrik Larsson's famous goal, but unfortunately wasn't successful.

58 minutes into the game, Rangers made a substitution. Lawrence came on for Diomande, who didn't perform well in the No 10 position. Lawrence had a great game last week in the win against Ross County.

56 minutes into the game and Celtic are putting pressure on Rangers by repeatedly sending in free kicks and corners into their penalty box. Kuhn is causing trouble for the home team on the right side, he's playing in a way that reminds me of Patrick Roberts when he played for Celtic.

53 minutes into the game, Souttar's header hits the post after a corner kick, but the referee calls a foul on the Rangers defender for making contact with his opponent, Scales.

At 52 minutes into the game, Rangers earned a free kick in a favorable position and began to push forward. Cerny shifted to the left, outmaneuvered his opponent, and sent a low cross into the box. The ball landed at Souttar's feet, but Carter-Vickers stepped in with a crucial block. Celtic managed to clear the ball for a corner with some difficulty. Rangers showed improvement in their attacking play.

50 minutes into the game, Celtic came close to scoring from a corner in the first half, and they nearly score again from a corner now. Maeda managed to get a touch on the ball at the near post, but Kyogo was unable to convert the chance at the back post.

After a great play by Rangers, Dessers had a big opportunity to score. He had plenty of time to make a good shot in Celtic's penalty box, but unfortunately, his shot was weak and easily saved by Schmeichel. It was a missed chance for Dessers. However, the game is far from over. The next goal will be crucial.

46 minutes: It may seem strange to mention this on September 1st, but this half of the game could be crucial for Rangers. It is important to remember that they will be trailing Celtic by five points if the score remains the same.

This is the current table.

The Old Firm match has started up once more.

"If Celtic win today, it is very probable that Dundee United could move up to third place if they win against Hearts at Tynecastle later," Simon McMahon wrote in an email. "I think both Celtic and Rangers supporters would agree that this is the crucial outcome we are all watching for."

I'm going to get an Irn-Bru. I'll talk to you soon.

Celtic 2-0 Rangers At Half-time

The home fans cheered loudly as the referee signaled the end of the first half. Celtic has been clearly in control of the match ever since their goal was disallowed early on in the game.

45 minutes have passed in the game, and the referee has just added three extra minutes. Rangers are in desperate need of halftime.

44 minutes into the game, there seems to be a question about the Rangers' midfield presence. Bernardo gets the ball with plenty of room near the Rangers' goal, evades a couple of opponents, causing two defenders to fall, but his shot goes directly at Butland! He had several chances to score but may have hesitated too long. It should have been a goal for his team, possibly making the score 3-0.

43 minutes into the game, the Rangers team is having a tough time defending on their left side. A pass is made into the box, and Souttar has to kick the ball away close to his own goal, since Kyogo is waiting nearby to score.

42 minutes in: It is worth noting that prior to the chaotic events that followed, Rangers made a substitution with McCausland coming on for Matondo. It is not clear if this was due to Matondo being injured or if he was simply having a poor performance. Matondo missed a crucial header, failed to create any opportunities, and did not effectively mark Johnston, which ultimately resulted in a Celtic goal.

Celtic Leads 2-0 Against Rangers

A spectacular goal from Celtic's star player, who manages to find some open space in front of Rangers' defense, about 30 yards away from the goal. Kyogo decides to take the shot quickly and surprises Butland, putting a powerful shot into the net. It was almost like he effortlessly scored from far away! This goal is both impressive and a mistake on the part of the goalkeeper. Celtic now have a two-goal lead!

38 minutes into the game, Sterling received a yellow card for fouling Kyogo during the build-up to those two Celtic opportunities.

36 minutes into the game and Celtic had two great opportunities to score. Johnston was able to get past Matondo and pass the ball back to the back post, similar to the first goal. Maeda was ready, but Tavernier was able to block his shot this time. Kuhn then passed the ball to Hatate who was alone at the back post, but unfortunately, he missed his shot from close range. Hatate should have scored from that position.
