21 Jan 2023

Ange Postecoglou has named his Celtic team vs Greenock Morton in today’s Scottish Cup Fourth Round clash.

The full match squad is as follows:

Starting XI – Hart, Johnston, Starfelt, Kobayashi, Bernabei, McGregor, Mooy, Turnbull, Abada, Maeda, Kyogo.

Substitutes – Bain, Haksbanaovic, Jota, Iwata, O’Riley, Hatate, Forrest, Lawal, Welsh.

The manager has made four changes to the team which took care of St Mirren midweek with David Turnbull, Aaron Mooy, Daizen Maeda and Alexandro Bernabei all coming into the line-up.

There’s no sign of Giorgos Giakoumakis despite his return to training yesterday, while Josip Juranovic is expected to travel to sign for Union Berlin.

It’s a strong eleven, with Postecoglou clearly eager to shut down any prospect of a cup upset.

Some may have expected more changes for the fixture today against lower-league opposition but with our next match coming for another 8 days, there’s little risk in playing the regulars.

Kyogo Furuhashi will get the chance to continue his scoring form and push towards the 20-goal mark. Meanwhile, defender Yuki Kobayashi gets the chance to impress after his debut on Wednesday night.

An Aaron Mooy/David Turnbull midfield isn’t one we’ve seen too often so hopefully that can click creatively behind the lightning threats of Daizen Maeda and Liel Abada.

All going well, it should be a comfortable victory.
