Aberdeen's run without a loss this season came to an abrupt halt when they faced Celtic, who overwhelmed them with a 6-0 victory in the semi-finals of the Premier Sports Cup at Hampden.

The Dons arrived in Glasgow full of optimism following their impressive beginning to the season, but the semi-final turned out to be a challenge too great for Thelin and his team. This match marked the first defeat for the Dons manager since he took the helm at Pittodrie.

Here, we evaluate how the Dons played during their defeat at the National Stadium.

Dimitar Mitov 5 – He was left vulnerable by his defense as Celtic easily penetrated the Aberdeen backline during a brutal first half. The Bulgarian international had little chance with any of the goals scored.

Jack MacKenzie 5 – He struggled against Cameron Carter-Vickers, who played a key role in Celtic's first goal. MacKenzie might think about whether he could have done better to prevent Maeda from assisting Kyogo for Celtic's second goal.

Gavin Molloy 5 – The speed and strength of Celtic were overwhelming for the ex-Shelbourne defender, leaving the Dons' backline struggling to cope. However, he wasn't the only one having a tough time; it was a disappointing performance for the entire Dons squad.

Slobodan Rubezic put himself in a tough spot by getting an early yellow card for a foul on Kyogo. He then lost the ball, which allowed the Hoops to score again and extend their advantage.

Nicky Devlin 5 - It was a challenging outing for possibly the Dons' most reliable player this season. His level of effort has been a standout aspect of Thelin’s Aberdeen squad, but he encountered his fiercest rival of the year in Celtic’s Daizen Maeda.

Graeme Shinnie 5 – The Dons captain has set a strong example for his team this season, but like his teammates, he found it challenging to deal with the relentless pressure from the Hoops as they kept attacking.

Sivert Heltne Nilsen had a challenging first half, receiving a yellow card and struggling to contain Celtic's attack. He kept working hard throughout the match, but it was a difficult job this time around. He was substituted for Leighton Clarkson.

Duk 4 – Received a yellow card for fouling Alistair Johnston halfway through the first half and had difficulty making an impact, as he was outmatched physically by the Celtic defender. He was substituted by Shayden Morris at the start of the second half.

Jamie McGrath struggled to make an impact for Aberdeen, mostly limited to taking set pieces. With Celtic applying constant pressure, he found it hard to be a factor in the match. He was substituted in the later stages for Vicente Besuijen.

Topi Keskinen 4 – His speed and straightforward approach showed potential, but the Finnish international struggled to make an impact, often being overwhelmed by the Hoops defense. He was substituted at halftime for Ante Palaversa.

Ester Sokler 5 – Put in a lot of effort, but frequently found herself running after the ball instead of posing a threat in the box. She received a yellow card for a foul on Alex Valle and was substituted for Peter Ambrose.

Players who didn't take the field include Doohan, McGarry, Milne, and MacDonald.

Schmeichel received a rating of 6, while Valle also got a 6 and was substituted for Taylor in the 63rd minute. Trusty and Carter-Vickers both earned a score of 6, with Scales coming on for Carter-Vickers in the 63rd minute. Johnston, Hatate, and McGregor were rated 7 each. Engels had a rating of 6 and was replaced by Bernardo in the 63rd minute. Furuhashi, who was substituted by Idah in the 69th minute, scored a 6. Maeda performed well with a rating of 8, and Kuhn was rated 7 before being substituted for Forrest in the 72nd minute. The substitutes who did not get to play were Sinisalo, Palma, Yang, and Ralston.

Referee – Don Robertson 7. Referee: Don Robertson is in charge. 7.
