Celtic and Club Brugge ended their Champions League match in a 1-1 tie on Wednesday. The home team fell behind early when defender Cameron Carter-Vickers accidentally scored an own goal, but Daizen Maeda later brought Celtic back on level terms.
The draw has left Celtic in 20th place with a total of eight points, just a point above Brugge, who are in 22nd. Despite this, both teams are still in contention for the knockout playoff spots in the 36-team standings.
In the 26th minute, Carter-Vickers made a mistake by misreading a pass that was meant for goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel. With Schmeichel out of position, the ball rolled into the bottom corner of the goal.
The guests took control in the first half, applying heavy pressure that troubled Celtic, who didn't perform to their usual standard.
Following the halftime break, the home team appeared to perform much better, and Maeda brought the score even by expertly curling in a fantastic shot from the right side of the penalty area in the 60th minute.
Brendan Rodgers' team pushed hard for a victory but ended up with a tie, preserving their undefeated home streak across all competitions this season.
