Autumn Update from Farsley Celtic Women

Celtic FC

As we kick off the 2024/25 season for the women's team, we feel a deep sense of pride in what we've built. The players are delivering impressive performances, and the camaraderie among the team is clear as we strive for success together.

We're excited about our upcoming league game against Sherburn White Rose today. Manager Izzy Roads has put together a fantastic team for this match. With such a talented roster this season, it's challenging to narrow it down to just 16 players! Our squad is packed with strength, ensuring we stay competitive throughout the long season ahead.

Even though we were knocked out of the FA Cup last weekend in a tightly contested and challenging game against Bradford City, the team still has a winning spirit. They are brimming with enthusiasm and optimism for what's ahead, especially after witnessing the passionate support from the traveling Farsley Celtic fans, who braved the rainy weather on Sunday!

On behalf of the players and coaching staff, I’m excited to take this opportunity to express our gratitude to everyone who is contributing to our development. We’re fortunate to have a passionate and growing fan base, who filled the air with enthusiastic applause and cheers during the Bradford match. The excitement was especially high after the incredible goals scored by Lauren Rigby and Millie Washington's brilliantly taken shot. In fact, Rigby’s free kick video has received an astounding 4,000 views across our social media channels! The support from our fans was truly appreciated, and we all felt a sense of pride sharing messages about how wonderful it was to see so many people in attendance. It means so much to us to witness our following expanding so quickly, and we can’t wait to see even more of you in the future!

This season, we’ve made a notable addition to our support team by welcoming Kirsty Dwyer Morgan as our Player Advocate. She has already had a meaningful influence on the squad. This new position reflects our dedication to ensuring that our players feel heard, supported, and represented. Kirsty collaborates closely with our Captain, Lauren Rigby, who is also trained in mental health first aid, as well as the entire support team, to prioritize the players' wellbeing above all else. We believe that players who feel safe and self-assured will perform at their best both on and off the field, especially with a support team that embodies our club's core values. With Izzy Roads as manager, Connor Cowan in a coaching position, and Steve O'Brian overseeing fitness and conditioning, we are confident that the players we've brought on this season will have excellent opportunities for development and improvement as we navigate the Premier League together.

Every season, we accomplish remarkable things through our sponsorship and fundraising efforts, and this season is no different! My team and I want to express our gratitude to our sponsors, as we couldn't achieve our goals without their support. We’re excited to welcome our 2024/25 supporters! Stay tuned for more updates in the coming weeks as we collaborate with our wonderful partners!
