Revealed: Freak accident at David Lloyd gym that killed Coronation Street star Carol Royle's husband...

Carol Royle

Carol Royle, known for her role in Coronation Street, has experienced the loss of her husband, who tragically passed away after jumping into a cold outdoor swimming pool at a nearby David Lloyd fitness center, as reported by MailOnline.

Julian Spear, a legendary figure in the music industry known for launching the careers of bands like the Boomtown Rats and The Stranglers, noticed steam curling up from the pool and thought it was heated, just like it had been every time he had used it over the past four years.

However, when he jumped in, the frigid water caused a sudden and severe brain hemorrhage.

At 74 years old, Mr. Spear managed to make it back home without any issues after enjoying a swim at the David Lloyd facility in Hampton, West London.

He even prepared his own lunch and began attaching stamps to Christmas cards meant for family and friends overseas when he suddenly started feeling unwell and dizzy.

The head of public relations for the music label Phonogram collapsed in a cloakroom on the lower floor and called out to his wife for assistance.

She contacted an ambulance, and he was quickly taken to West Middlesex Hospital from his residence in Twickenham, West London, on Sunday afternoon.

He passed away the next day, Monday, because of internal bleeding in a part of the brain that couldn't be surgically treated.

MailOnline has reported that Carol Royle, the actress from Coronation Street, has lost her husband. He passed away after jumping into a chilly outdoor swimming pool at his nearby David Lloyd leisure center.

Actress Carol Royle is seen with her son Sam Taran and her husband Julian Spear.

Ms. Royle, who is second from the left, shared this photo of her husband Julian, who is on the far right, on Instagram.

His heartbroken family honored an "amazing" husband and father who ran three times a week, preferred cycling over driving, and maintained a diet of healthy organic food.

Carol, my wife, shared, "We first crossed paths as teenagers. There was a period when we went our own ways, but eventually we found our way back to each other. We tied the knot in 1977 and have been together ever since."

He was the picture of good health, consuming only organic whole foods. He loved jogging and ran every single day. Instead of driving, he preferred to bike to the store, and he always took a walk after each meal.

He had a deep love for life and an intense passion for music. His understanding of music, spanning from the 1960s to today, was extensive. This made him a big fan of quiz games, and he often made me feel envious of how he always answered everything correctly.

However, he was quite modest and never bragged about his remarkable achievements, such as surpassing Elvis Costello.

He collaborated with musicians such as Barry White and Sheryl Crow.

However, Julian was a remarkably down-to-earth and humble individual. He never let his ego get in the way and had a remarkable ability to help others receive the recognition they truly deserved.

I find it really unfortunate that he isn't here to listen to the heartfelt speeches and honors being shared.

There are countless memories I will cherish about him.

There were countless instances of this. He approached life with immense positivity and was genuinely passionate about everything he undertook. He had unwavering faith in his kids.

He had a natural instinct to take care of others. There were never any obstacles too great for him to handle.

I'm not sure how we'll handle Christmas this year. It simply won't feel the same.

Julian Spear noticed steam coming off the pool and naturally thought it was heated, just like it had been every other time he used it in the past four years.

Royle, 70, is grieving the loss of her husband, who passed away in an unusual swimming pool incident after being together for 47 years.

The Christmas cards we planned to send to friends and family overseas are still sitting untouched on his desk since Sunday.

He visited the recreational center solely to take advantage of the outdoor swimming pool. Over the past four years, he had been going for a swim there about three or four times each week.

The pool was consistently warm. He had never experienced it being cold during any of his previous visits.

On Sunday, he remembered noticing steam coming up from the water, so he figured it was heated like usual.

However, he took the plunge and found the water to be icy. It left him a bit rattled, but he was able to get out and make it home safely.

It seems there were indicators alerting visitors that the pool was cold that day, but we’re unsure of their exact location or how noticeable they really were.

However, it seems that no one at the reception or anywhere else informed Julian about the problem with the pool heating before he took the plunge.

Julian got back home and whipped up a quick lunch for himself before heading to his office to stamp some Christmas cards.

I heard him calling out for me, and when I rushed downstairs, I discovered him lying on the floor in the hallway closet.

He expressed that he was feeling unwell and had been having trouble with his balance. He mentioned that the room was spinning so violently that he didn't want to open his eyes.

I called for an ambulance, and he was rushed to the hospital. Unfortunately, the bleeding was in a section of the brain that couldn't be treated surgically, and he passed away the next day.

"He made me whole, every bit of me. He was caring, sincere, and giving, embracing life wholeheartedly."

Ms. Royle posted another picture of her husband, Julian, on social media.

The 70-year-old woman shown as Lady Patricia Brewster in the show Heartbeat.

Tally, my daughter and a talented songwriter and musician, shared: "My dad surprised me with a Taylor acoustic guitar as an early Christmas gift."

Going forward, every song I create will be influenced by him and will be a tribute to him.

He was always the first person I turned to whenever I wanted to discuss my thoughts or share my work.

Many people who collaborated with him have reached out to share their memories of Dad and honor his legacy.

Bob Harris was described as a person full of kindness, honesty, and affection. Cheryl Crow viewed him as family; they shared a deep bond and collaborated for over three decades. She is truly devastated by his passing.

My friends have reached out to share their memories of my dad. They fondly recall how he used to play guitar for them, prepare healthy snacks, and bring a lot of laughter into their lives.

His generosity had a lasting impact on their lives. One of his friends referenced a quote by Maya Angelou that I find especially fitting: "People may forget what you said and what you did, but they will always remember how you made them feel."

"That captures my dad just right."

Son Taran, 41, who is also a musician, shared, "He was a wonderful dad; he was always so caring and affectionate."

He constantly expressed his confidence in us and motivated us to reach our potential. He cheered for us like no one else, and we supported him just as fiercely.

"We will cherish him for the melodies he brought into our lives and the affection he shared with us."

A representative from David Lloyd expressed their condolences, stating, "We are saddened to learn about the passing of Julian Spear, who was a member of our Hampton Club."

We are thinking of his family and friends during this difficult time and sending our heartfelt sympathy.

The Risks Of Jumping Into Cold Water

Immersing your body in ice-cold water has been championed by renowned figures like Wim Hof, known as the Iceman, who claims it can unlock a 'natural ability' for self-healing.

Nonetheless, the techniques used by the Dutchman, which include some unconventional breathing practices, have recently been associated with a series of fatalities.

Since 2015, there have been 11 reported deaths, including that of a 17-year-old girl, linked to individuals attempting his methods or similar ones.

Hof's approach includes both cold water exposure and breathing techniques, and each of these carries its own risks. These risks can increase when the two are practiced together, which is a caution Hof emphasizes.

Here are a few risks associated with cold water therapy:
