Corrie star's husband dies after freak swimming pool accident

Soap actress Carol Royle has announced that her husband of 47 years has unexpectedly passed away due to an unfortunate accident.

The 70-year-old actress, known for her role in the ITV soap Crossroads, began her journey on Coronation Street this summer, taking on the role of Anthea Deering.

In 1977, Royle tied the knot with musician Julian Spear, who is the son of Bernard Spear, known for his roles in Yentl and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

They later welcomed two kids, Taran and Talitha.

What Happened To Carol Royle's Husband?

On Monday, Royle announced on social media that he had passed away, explaining that he experienced a "sudden and severe brain hemorrhage."

Next to a family photo, the heartbroken star wrote: "I am deeply saddened to share that we lost my amazing husband, Julian Spear, today, December 9th."

A physically fit individual dove into a chilly outdoor pool yesterday, mistakenly thinking it was heated like it usually is. Tragically, he suffered a sudden, severe brain hemorrhage, and our hearts go out to him.

She mentioned, "We've been married for 47 years and have known each other for 56. Please excuse me if I'm not around on Facebook for a bit."

Her friends and supporters swiftly expressed their sympathies in the comments.

"I can't find the right words to express how much I hurt for all of you," one individual shared. "Knowing Julian was truly a privilege. You have such a wonderful and loving family. I care for all of you deeply and am sending all my love and strength," they concluded, adding a red heart emoji.

Another person responded: “Oh Carol, I’m truly sorry to hear that. He was such a wonderful person. You and your family are in my thoughts.”

"Oh my gosh, Carol, I'm truly heartbroken to hear this. It's completely unbelievable. I’m thinking of you, Tally, and Taryn during this difficult time. Sending you all my love," another person expressed.

Royle has also appeared in various other roles, such as Jenny Russell in the BBC sitcom "Life Without George" and Lady Patricia Brewster in four episodes of "Heartbeat."

She also had roles in several episodes of Casualty, Doctors, and The Bill, portraying various characters across all three series.
