The quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup tonight won't have any VAR, as it's only implemented starting from the semi-finals of the competition.

The VAR system isn't utilised during the initial stages of the Carabao Cup, as not every team participating in the tournament has an opportunity to use this technology.

The regulation will continue to be enforced until the semi-finals, at which point the English Football League will offer VAR to any lower-league team in need.

Tonight, the Carabao Cup quarter-finals start with Chelsea hosting Newcastle at Stamford Bridge, and Everton facing Fulham at Goodison Park. On Wednesday, West Ham will visit Anfield to play against Liverpool, while Port Vale will be playing against Middlesbrough, a non-Premier League team, in the semi-finals.

After Liverpool vs West Ham has ended, the semi-finals will have their draw.

In January, there will be two matches played for the semi-final round of the Carabao Cup. These matches will take place in two separate weeks, the first on the week of the 8th and the second on the week of the 21st.

If the Carabao Cup quarter-finals end as a tie after 90 minutes, penalties will be used to determine the winner. However, extra time will only be in effect from the semi-finals and onwards.

Fulham beat Tottenham in a penalty shootout during an earlier stage of the tournament. The match had ended in a 1-1 tie after the regular 90 minutes at Craven Cottage.

Who made it to the semi-final round?

Deciding between Port Vale and Middlesbrough When it comes to choosing between Port Vale and Middlesbrough, there are a few key factors to consider. First and foremost, location plays a big role. Port Vale is located in the Staffordshire area, while Middlesbrough is situated in the northeast of England. If you're looking for a city vibe, Middlesbrough might be the better choice. It's a larger city with a more lively downtown area. Port Vale, on the other hand, is a smaller town with a more relaxed pace. Another consideration is sports. Both Port Vale and Middlesbrough have football (or soccer) teams, but Middlesbrough's squad is generally more successful. If you're a big sports fan, Middlesbrough might be the better option. Overall, the decision between Port Vale and Middlesbrough really comes down to personal preferences. Each has its own unique appeal and benefits. So, take some time to weigh your options and choose the one that feels right for you.

When it comes to the soccer matchup between Liverpool and West Ham, both teams are highly skilled and competitive. Liverpool is known for their strong offense, featuring players like Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane. They are also a tough team to beat at home, playing at the historic Anfield stadium. On the other hand, West Ham has a solid defense and is known for their counterattacking style of play. They have players like Declan Rice and Michail Antonio who can create scoring opportunities and make key defensive stops. Overall, it's difficult to predict the outcome of a match between Liverpool and West Ham. Both teams have their strengths and weaknesses, and it could come down to who executes their game plan better on any given day.
