Captain Tom's daughter defends decision to keep book profits
The daughter of Captain Tom has come forward to justify her decision to profit from the book she wrote about her father. She claims that the money generated from the book will be donated to charity. She highlights that the book is not only about her father but also about the journey of writing it together with him. The decision to publish the book was made prior to her father's death, and he was supportive of the idea as well. Despite the criticism she has received, she asserts that this was a personal project that holds sentimental value to her and her family. She hopes that people can understand their motives and that the proceeds will be used for a good cause.
The relatives of Captain Sir Tom Moore have admitted to retaining the earnings from his literary works.
During her appearance on TalkTV's "Piers Morgan Uncensored," Hannah Ingram-Moore clarified that there was no prior arrangement between her father and herself regarding the donation of proceeds from his book to charity.
In 2020, the autobiography of Capt Sir Tom titled "Tomorrow will be a Good Day" was published.
In the beginning of the book, he mentions that the opportunity to write this memoir has presented him with the possibility of generating additional funds for his charitable organization.
Ms. Ingram-Moore stated that they followed the captain's request by retaining the earnings of his three books, which were rumored to be £800,000.
She mentioned that her dad wished for their household to maintain the funds in a distinct enterprise from the Captain Tom Foundation.
It is not implied that Ms Ingram-Moore committed any illegal deeds by choosing to keep the profits earned from book sales instead of contributing them to her father's charitable organization.
At the beginning of his autobiography in 2020, Capt Sir Tom expressed his surprise that despite being of advanced age, he was given the opportunity to write his memoir. Moreover, he was honored to be able to continue to contribute to the charitable foundation established in his name by raising more funds.
The ambitions of this organization resonate deeply with my personal values, as it strives to alleviate the effects of social isolation, provide aid to hospice facilities, and offer assistance to those processing grief... I am incredibly grateful and privileged to have been offered another chance to contribute to the betterment of my beloved nation.
Captain Sir Tom Moore gained fame for his charitable activities during the initial pandemic shutdown.
The BBC shared a segment from a TV program where Colin, Ms. Ingram-Moore's spouse, disclosed to Morgan that most of the alleged £809,000 earnings that their business Club Nook Ltd gained was from the three books he co-authored with Penguin Random House.
According to him, almost all of the money earned by Club Nook comes from book sales, making up 95% of their revenue.
Where do birds go during storms? Birds are known to have various strategies to cope with bad weather conditions, but it depends on the type of bird and the severity of the storm. Some birds like ducks and geese will fly away to warmer places before the storm hits. Other birds like seagulls will hunker down and wait until the storm passes. Some birds like hawks and eagles will find shelter in trees or other protected areas. Whatever the bird's strategy may be, it's amazing how they are able to adapt to ever-changing weather conditions.
According to Capt Sir Tom's daughter, Hannah Ingram-Moore, her father expressed his desire for their family to benefit from the book royalties.
Ms Ingram-Moore, who lives in Marston Moretaine in Bedfordshire, stated that the books belonged to her late father and that he had great pleasure in writing them. However, they were solely his works.
The deal was handled by an agent, who collaborated with the person involved in it.
The books belonged to Captain Tom and he desired for the money to remain in Club Nook.
Morgan inquired if the item was meant for her, to which she responded affirmatively, specifying that it was indeed intended for her.
She stated that the books had no association with the charitable organization.
According to her, her father was the one who decided how to use the money they made. They didn't have a say in it as his wishes were the only ones that mattered. He was the one who called the shots and they were simply following his directions.

Capt Sir Tom captured the hearts of the entire nation by embarking on a fundraising walk that involved walking around his garden 100 times.
The fundraising actions carried out by Captain Sir Tom for charitable causes related to the National Health Service will forever be remembered as a remarkable episode during the Covid-19 pandemic.
He strolled around his garden in Bedfordshire and collected £38 million for NHS Charities Together. This organisation collaborates with over 230 NHS Charities throughout the United Kingdom in order to assist the institution.
Nonetheless, the foundation initiated by his relatives to commemorate him is not accepting contributions anymore.
Right now, there is an official investigation being conducted on the Captain Tom Foundation.
A little more than 365 days ago, the Charity Commission initiated an examination into its monetary situation.
It has been revealed that Ms Ingram-Moore received numerous payments amounting to thousands of pounds from her family-owned enterprise for events related to her deceased father's charitable activities.
'£18k Paid For Awards'
She showed up at a ceremony where they gave Virgin Media O2 Captain Tom Foundation Connector Awards. The plaques they handed out had the charity's logo and name on them.
During that period, she served as the temporary CEO of the charity with an annual pay of £85,000.
Nevertheless, rather than receiving payment for her appearance from the Captain Tom Foundation, it was received by Maytrix Group, which is owned by herself and her spouse.
During her interview on TalkTV, she revealed that she received a payment of £18,000 and generously donated £2,000 of it to the foundation.
During the summer, the organization ceased accepting donations as Central Bedfordshire Council planning officials instructed the removal of an unapproved spa pool block from Ms. Ingram-Moore's residence.
The structure that's now in the location where the family's former abode once stood was initially authorized for the benefit of those living in it and the Captain Tom Foundation. In August of 2021, the project was given the green light, and work was already underway when updated blueprints featuring a spa pool, restrooms, and a kitchen specifically for personal use were presented in February of 2022.
In November 2022, the council rejected the updated blueprints for the structure formerly referred to as the Captain Tom Building.
The governing body declared that a directive to demolish the building, which is currently lacking authorization, has been commissioned.
The decision was challenged and a hearing is scheduled for later this month.
Ms Ingram-Moore has been reached out to by the BBC to provide a statement.
