Call the Midwife's Nancy receives long-awaited surprise in Christmas special

Call the Midwife

The season finale of Call the Midwife left Nancy's position at Nonnatus House uncertain, following an offer for her to work as a nurse in a rural hospital.

She made a surprising choice to search for work elsewhere in order to obtain a place to live for both herself and her child, Collette.

If she agreed to the proposal, she would also be provided with a home that could fit both of them without having to pay rent. Nonnatus House wasn't able to give her this option, so it resulted in the mother and daughter living in different places.

However, in the Christmas episode, they confirmed that Nancy will remain in her current location. Megan Cusack, the actress who portrays Nancy, was interested in a theatre opportunity, but it didn't happen. Instead, she was offered a place to live along with her co-star Collette.

As the duo were guided around their new home, Sister Julienne expressed that it was the sole lodging option that appeared logical.

Sister Monica Joan expressed her wonder that this idea had not been considered earlier.

Trixie had generously added some of her "extra" wedding gifts to make sure they had everything they needed.

Nancy was clearly moved as she expressed her gratitude, while Collette's face was beaming with joy. It was apparent that Nancy was truly appreciative of everything that had been done for her.

In the TV show Call the Midwife, Megan Cusack portrayed Nancy Corrigan and Francesca Fullilove played the role of Collette Corrigan. The show was produced by Neal Street Productions and photographed by Laurence Cendrowicz.

During the Christmas episode, it was believed by Sister Monica Joan that she would depart not only from Nonnatus House but also from the whole planet Earth, as she was convinced about it.

But, her buddies gathered around her, like they always do, to lift her mood by making a Flemish painting of the Adoration of the Christ Child. This artwork displays infant Jesus laying in a manger surrounded by his mom, dad, shepherds, their animals, and angels.

After an amazing celebration, she ignored all her previous statements about it being her final Christmas and welcomed it as one of her most joyful and exceptional ones.

Season 13 of Call the Midwife comes out on Sunday 7th January, airing at 8pm. In case you're on the lookout for additional shows to view, take a look at our TV and Streaming guides. Alternatively, head over to our Drama hub for more stories and highlights.
