Burns night

Earlier today, a Big Tone supporter commented:

@super_ram, can you please provide more details about that story? I am interested in knowing more.

Are you in a comfortable seating position? If so, let's get started. (Does anyone recall this?)

I started working at Simon, May and Co. Ltd, a lace manufacturer and distributor in Nottingham, after finishing school in 1963. Even though my job wasn't exclusive to lace, I worked in the export despatch department in a junior role. Once a year, we had a visit from Jack Klasson, the owner of The Klasson Lace Corporation, who would stop by our office on his way back from mainland Europe. Although I'd heard of him, I'd never met him in person because of our differing schedules. Fast forward to around 1970, and Mr. Klasson was on another visit. We were given instructions to treat him with great respect, and he arrived with a group of directors and managers. It felt like a royal visit! As they were touring the building, they spotted a large photo of The Rams League Two winning side on the wall near where I sat. Mr. Klasson came over and asked me about it, speaking quite loudly and dominantly, like a typical brash New Yorker from the movies. He was fascinated by my accent and asked if I was related to the U.S. senator of the same name. He even inquired about my family while ignoring the rest of the group. It sure seemed like I made a lasting impression on him!

After that, every time he came to see us, he would come into our room without warning and yell out "Where's Bairy?" (Which is how he said my name). He was always interested in hearing about my Rams and would ask, "Have you sent me all of my lace?" He also checked in to see how my parents were doing and if I was alright. He preferred speaking with me directly because he felt I didn't try to deceive him. It seemed like he didn't hold a high opinion of many people he interacted with.

During a visit from JK, he mentioned that he would be flying to Scotland later that day. I asked him if he planned on going Haggis hunting during his trip. He found my comment funny, but to my surprise, he returned a few days later with an actual Haggis and asked me to send it to America. So @Chris, your memory was pretty close to the actual event.

The aroma was pleasant, according to @liampie and @Joshua, although I have never personally tried it.
