Three arrested after Glasgow Buchanan Bus Station evacuation

Three individuals were taken into custody for having dangerous weapons following the evacuation of Buchanan Bus Station in Glasgow.

Authorities announced that the bomb squad was summoned at 1:10 PM due to reports of a potentially dangerous package. However, after conducting a controlled detonation, they discovered that there was no threat.

The warning caused significant disruptions throughout the city center and affected public transportation to and from Glasgow for the entire day.

The bus terminal and the adjacent Killermont Street stayed shut on Wednesday evening, and train operations at the nearby Queen Street Station were also impacted.

A representative from Police Scotland stated: "The bus station and nearby buildings were cleared out as a safety measure."

Three individuals were detained for having dangerous weapons, and investigations are still underway.

Out of caution, both students and faculty members at Glasgow Caledonian University, which is located just across the street from the bus station, were also evacuated.

Around 8:30 PM, ScotRail suspended train services at Glasgow Queen Street station.

It stated: "Trains will not operate to and from Glasgow Queen Street High Level until the police consider it safe to resume service."

Trains departing from Queen Street travel through a tunnel beneath Killermont Street and the bus station. Service has started again after 9 PM.

The Glasgow Royal Concert Hall, located on Killermont Street, announced that it had to cancel shows because of "unforeseen circumstances."

The company that manages the bus station, Strathclyde Partnership for Transport (SPT), issued an apology for the extended interruptions at Scotland's busiest bus terminal.

The station is utilized by Stagecoach, First Bus, McGill's, and a number of other bus companies.

Initially, it was mentioned that several services are being rerouted, with bus companies utilizing different streets in the city center for passenger drop-offs and pickups.

Citylink, the operator of long-distance buses, announced that its buses are leaving from North Hanover Street.

Travelers were advised to contact service providers to find out how their schedules might have changed.
