Wrexham have just been dealt a massive injury blow vs Bristol Rovers, Paul Mullin given chance

Bristol Rovers vs Wrexham

Wrexham faced off against Bristol Rovers in one of the opening matches of League One on Saturday.

Wrexham hasn't faced defeat in any of their home matches this season, but their performance in away games has raised some concerns.

Phil Parkinson has witnessed his team lose points on six different occasions while playing away from the Racecourse Ground this season.

They have faced some challenges in scoring goals while playing away, but nevertheless, Elliot Lee once again took the lead in the attack against Bristol Rovers.

Earlier this week, the Pirates switched managers and were clearly looking for an immediate improvement as they hosted a Wrexham team seeking to finish the day ahead of Birmingham City at the Memorial Stadium.

Before the match began, Parkinson's had remained unbeaten in the league since November, while Bristol Rovers had managed only one win in their last five games.

Elliot Lee Injured In Bristol Rovers Match

Wrexham took control in the early part of the match, with Ollie Palmer and Lewis Brunt each narrowly missing the target with their shots.

The visitor team took the lead after 17 minutes when Matty James assisted Elliot Lee, who scored with a great finish.

Wrexham supporters have raised doubts about Lee's performance as a secondary striker recently, but he proved them wrong with a brilliant goal on Saturday.

Parkinson is anticipated to share an update about the player after the match, but losing Lee for any duration during this busy time would be a significant setback.

Paul Mullin Ready To Shine For Wrexham

Mullin was dropped from the starting lineup last month, as Lee has been playing alongside Ollie Palmer at the front for the past six matches.

The 30-year-old had scored only one goal in 18 League One matches this season prior to his appearance against Bristol Rovers.

However, a Wrexham specialist is confident that Mullin will excel by the conclusion of the 2024/25 season, and he currently has an excellent opportunity to achieve that.

The Red Dragons have three additional matches scheduled over the next 12 days, and it looks like their all-time leading scorer will finally get the chance to start in some of them.
