Paul Griffin reaches out to say, "What an entertaining match! Nuno Espírito Santo definitely has the most stylish name in English football, doesn’t he? I could have sworn I saw the Nuno Espírito Santo Quartet deliver an incredible post-bop performance at the Blue Note on West 63rd one clear night in late '58 or maybe '59, while John Coltrane watched with a hint of jealousy. I remember they were completely outperformed by a groundbreaking set from the Tony Pulis trio. The way that guy handles set pieces is beyond words."

As a fan of Bill Evans, I would love to see him perform alongside Eric da Silva Moreira on bass at the Village Vanguard, a venue filled with smoke and the scents of cologne and perfume.

Half-time Score: Brighton 2, Nottingham Forest 1

Brighton looked lost and overwhelmed, while Forest played confidently and skillfully. Then Jack Hinshelwood scored a brilliant header, followed by a fantastic free-kick from Danny Welbeck. That’s the essence of football and a testament to the talent Brighton possesses.

45+5 minutes: Nuno appears quite displeased. His strategy has fallen apart. At the same time, Danny Welbeck is dealing with an issue. Will he return for the second half?

45+3 min: Joel Veltman takes a shot at a good opportunity to score a third goal. Hurzeler is now hovering around the sidelines.

45+1 min: Four additional minutes were announced. Brighton is looking for more action.

Brighton Triumphs 2-1 Over Nottingham Forest

What an incredible free-kick! It was struck perfectly, sailing over the wall and landing in the bottom corner of the net. Absolutely brilliant! What a dramatic shift in the game!

44 minutes in: Mitoma has entered the match but was taken down by Aina, resulting in a yellow card for the Forest defender.

43 minutes: Although it wasn't unexpected given the flow of the game, it did catch everyone off guard; this was the first time Brighton orchestrated a significant attack, and Forest were caught off guard.

Brighton And Nottingham Forest Draw 1-1

What a stunning play! Van Hecke sent a powerful ball in, and it was met with a strong header that soared past Sels. It did take a slight deflection off Gibbs-White, though.

40 minutes in: Adingra passes the ball to Rutter, but it goes out of play. Not great. Brighton's performance is falling short once again.

39 minutes in: Danny Welbeck receives a yellow card for dissent after expressing his frustration over what he believes was a deliberate foul by James Ward-Prowse on Rutter. The referee, Rob Jones, is not swayed by his complaints.

37 minutes into the match, Brighton starts to pick up the pace. Rutter finally manages to twist around and take a shot, but it goes off target.

Justin Kavanagh reached out with his thoughts: "I was really surprised to find out that Fabian Hürzeler is only 31! After looking him up online, I discovered that he began his career at Bayern Munich when he was just 11 and wrapped it up at 23. If that was due to an injury, shouldn't we consider it as a 'defective end' to his career? This made me think about creating a new system for measuring the age of professional footballers, similar to how we calculate 'dog years' by multiplying by seven. If we assume these young football talents live one and a half times longer than the average person, then Herr Hürzeler would actually be around 46 or 47 years old!"

At the 35-minute mark, Hurzeler, known for his energetic antics on the sidelines in Germany, is keeping a low profile today. He’s already on one yellow card this season from the 1-1 match against Arsenal, but today he’s seated quietly and appears to be focused on the screen.

At the 33-minute mark, Adingra quickly sprints back to help defend against one of the counterattacks from Forest. There's a bit of a mix-up between Moreno and the Brighton substitutes when he goes to take a throw-in. Maybe he lost his focus, as he ends up throwing the ball out of play for a goal kick.

At the 31-minute mark, Mitoma finally finds some room to maneuver and delivers a nice pass. However, the Forest defense manages to clear the ball, as none of the Brighton attackers make a strong enough effort to chase it down.

30 minutes: Brighton earns a corner. Rutter connects with Estupinan's pass first but sends his header over the goal.

28 min: Mitoma has been relatively inactive in this match. Forest's midfield is overpowering Brighton, leaving the home fans quite subdued.

27 minutes in: Gibbs-White deftly moves in to take possession, leaving Brighton in a tough spot. The Forest supporters are even breaking into an “olé” chant.

24 minutes: Baleba, having committed the foul that led to the penalty, has now received a yellow card for bringing down Elliot Anderson in the midfield.

At the 22-minute mark, Adingra has an opportunity but risks being offside as Brighton opts for a long pass. Fabian Hurzeler shows his frustration; his team is struggling to gain control.

21 minutes in: Hudson-Odoi had a shocking miss following a tight play from Forest. Fortunately for him, he was clearly offside.

19 minutes in: Brighton is really struggling in this match, and it's largely thanks to Nottingham Forest. Nuno has set them up in a way that makes it tough for the opposition to find their rhythm.

17 min: Oof, that looked rough: Adingra clashed with Moreno. The referee issued a yellow card, but it was a high challenge. It wasn’t particularly malicious, though. Should it have even been a yellow?

Eric Petersen: "Good morning from Pittsburgh! I need a moment to check a fact - I really think that Fabian Hurzeler looks a lot like a younger Gary Oldman. Nuno Espírito Santo has always struck me as resembling Jean Reno from his role in Leon: The Professional. So, I've already imagined a scenario where Forest wins, and afterward, the managers meet to chat. In that moment, Nuno looks intently at his rival and says, 'This... is for Mathilda.'"

The 1990s – a remarkable time for cinema.

14 min: You might not expect Chris Wood to excel at taking penalties, but perhaps that’s just a bias against tall players. That was a fantastic shot. Nuno's choice to include Hudson-Odoi is already proving to be a smart decision.

Nottingham Forest Beats Brighton 1-0

There’s no question about it. The shot went to the left, and Verbruggen couldn’t do anything to stop it.

Gibbs-White made a quick move, sliding the ball to Hudson-Odoi, while Baleba was awkward in his reaction. That’s definitely a penalty. Baleba realizes it too.

9 min: The closest moment so far. Rutter passes to Adringra, and the ball is quickly sent across the goal. Welbeck was in position to score, but he just missed it.

7 minutes in: After a few high tackles, the referee steps in to cool things down, signaling that he thinks things are getting a bit too aggressive. What a buzzkill!

6 min: Estupinan makes a quick run. It's great to see him back in action after dealing with injuries last season. There was a time when he seemed poised to be Brighton's next big £60m transfer. On the sidelines, Hurzeler is buzzing with energy, actively monitoring the tech and analyzing the screens.

In the fourth minute, Morgan Gibbs-White rises skillfully and seems to take a hit, but he's fine to keep playing. A fast free-kick sets Hudson-Odoi in motion, but it's too fast—he's flagged offside.

2 min: A weak corner is cleared, but Brighton keeps pressing forward. Forest seems content to hold their ground, just as they did successfully at Anfield.

Off We Go At The Amex Stadium

The Forest supporters are creating a lively atmosphere, singing "Mull of Kintyre," a classic from the glorious Cloughie days. However, Brighton manages to earn a corner kick.

Nuno also shared his thoughts, saying: "We want to make the most of the skills that Anthony [Elanga] and Callum [Hudson-Odoi] bring to the team. Our goal is to maintain a strong and cohesive style of play, utilizing our talent, finding space, and being creative. It's important for us to focus on playing effectively and competing at a high level."

Fabian Hurzeler shares his admiration for Forest, saying, “They possess impressive individual talent and have an effective style of play. Their organization on the field is commendable, and they excel at defending. When they regain possession, they transition swiftly, which is a strong point for them. Their strong start in the Premier League is impressive, though not unexpected. Facing them will be a significant challenge for us.”

For Nottingham Forest, this weekend has been one of reflection. It marks the 20th anniversary of Brian Clough's passing, which occurred on Friday.

Joao Pedro has made it into the Brighton lineup but is sitting on the bench. Meanwhile, Callum Hudson-Odoi is in the starting XI for Nottingham Forest after netting the decisive goal against Liverpool. Anthony Elanga is also included in the attack. Simon Adingra takes over from Yankuba Minteh on the wing, partnering with Kaoru Mitoma. Jack Hinshelwood is shifting from left-back to play in midfield – he’s a real asset – while the impressive Pervis Estupinan is finally back in action after a long absence.

Brighton: Verbruggen, Veltman, Dunk, Van Hecke, Estupinan, Baleba, Hinshelwood, Rutter, Adingra, Mitoma, Welbeck. Bench: Steele, Julio, Webster, Kadioglu, Wieffer, Minteh, Enciso, Pedro, Ferguson.

Nottingham Forest's lineup includes Sels, Murillo, Anderson, Gibbs-White, Wood, Hudson-Odoi, Ward-Prowse, Moreno, Elanga, Milenkovic, and Aina. On the bench are Miguel, Morato, Williams, Awoniyi, Dominguez, Da Silva Moreira, Jota, Yates, and Sosa.

In their previous game, both teams faced off against each other.

Joao Pedro remains uncertain for the upcoming match, having missed the previous two games, which complicates Hurzeler's search for scoring options. Additionally, Brajan Gruda, Solly March, James Milner, and Matt O’Riley are all out for an extended period.

Wily Boly and Ibrahim Sangare are expected to be absent for Forest.

How can Nottingham Forest fans keep up with Anfield? Recently, they pulled off a surprising victory— their first since 1969—which has been the biggest surprise of the season to date, and it would take something extraordinary to top that. Nuno, the Forest manager, faced skepticism from many who predicted his team would be heading for relegation. However, their undefeated start to the season indicates a different story.

In the meantime, Brighton has started off well with Fabian Hurzeler as their manager, and they remain unbeaten. By the way, he’s just 31 years old. The team has been showcasing some impressive football, although they lack the sharpness in attack that Graham Potter and Roberto de Zerbi often faced challenges with.

There are undefeated records at stake here. Should we just settle for a tie? I don't think so—this has the potential to be an exciting and educational game.

The event starts at 2 PM UK time. Come join me!
