Brighton 2-2 Nottingham Forest: Points shared in a four-goal thriller as Morgan Gibbs-White sent off at Amex - Eurosport

Brighton vs nottm Forest

Brighton and Nottingham Forest continue their unbeaten streak in the Premier League following an intense 2-2 stalemate at the Amex Stadium, which saw three players receive red cards, including Morgan Gibbs-White and both head coaches in the final minutes of the match.

Gibbs-White received his second yellow card in the 83rd minute for a late challenge on Joao Pedro. Chaos erupted in the technical area, leading to home manager Fabian Hurzeler and visiting coach Nuno Espírito Santo being sent to the stands.

Hurzeler's team was taken aback when they conceded the opening goal just 13 minutes into the match. Chris Wood converted a penalty kick after it was decided that Carlos Baleba had brought down Callum Hudson-Odoi.

Brighton shifted the momentum of the match with two fantastic goals right before halftime. Jack Hinshelwood scored with a powerful header that rocketed into the corner of the net, thanks to a well-placed cross from Jan Paul van Hecke in the 42nd minute.

Three minutes later, the Seagulls took the lead when Danny Welbeck delivered a beautiful free-kick from 22 yards out, finding the back of the net. This came after Ola Aina received a yellow card for fouling Kaoru Mitoma.

The action didn’t stop there, as Forest managed to secure a point in the 70th minute. After spending a large portion of the second half on the defensive, they launched a quick counterattack, with Jota Silva evading the offside trap and passing to fellow substitute Ramon Sosa, who calmly finished to level the score.

Both teams now have nine points after playing five matches, and they remain in seventh and eighth place in the standings.

Player Of The Match: Nikola Milenkovic

A solid performance in the center of the Forest defense helped his team secure a crucial point away after their 1-0 victory against Liverpool just a week prior. They earned this result by standing strong against Brighton's persistent attacks during the second half.

Did Gibbs-White Deserve His Red Card?

It's hard to dispute referee Rob Jones's choice to give a second yellow card. Although Gibbs-White managed to take the ball, the speed and intensity of his challenge from behind on Joao Pedro warranted the second booking. This decision led to a lot of outcry from both benches, and neither coaching staff was happy with the situation, resulting in both managers being shown red cards.

Brighton: Verbruggen 7, Estupinan 7, Dunk 7, Van Hecke 7, Veltman 6, Hinshelwood 8, Adingra 7, Baleba 7, Rutter 6, Mitoma 8, Welbeck 7. Substitutes: Wieffer 6, Minteh 6, Pedro 6, Ferguson 6.

Nottingham Forest: Sels received a rating of 7, while Moreno also scored 7. Murillo and Milenkovic both earned an 8 for their performances. Aina, Anderson, Ward-Prowse, Gibbs-White, and Elanga all received a score of 6, and Wood was rated at 7. For the substitutes, Morato, Williams, and Yates got a 6, whereas Sosa and Silva both achieved a rating of 7.
