Meet Billy Crystal's wife of 54 years and their two children | HELLO!
Billy frequently expresses his deep affection for Janice, recognizing her as the core of their family. He mentioned to Fox News, "We maintain humor and trust, always remain engaged in each other's lives, and honor our individuality."
"Our shared aspiration has always been to nurture a wonderful family, which we have accomplished and still strive for. It's important to us to treat one another with respect. She's truly an amazing individual."
The couple, who first met in their teenage years and have stayed together since, are now proud parents of two daughters and have four grandchildren as well. "I consider myself fortunate," he remarked. "I was just 18, and she was 17. And look at us now."
Billy and Janice's firstborn, Jennifer, arrived in 1973 and has pursued a career in acting, just like her father.
Renowned for her performances in "House" and "Once and Again," 51-year-old Jennifer has established a solid career in television. She has also made guest appearances on shows like "Beverly Hills, 90210," "NYPD Blue," and "Touched by an Angel."
Jennifer is wed to Michael Foley, and together they have two kids, Ella and Dylan.
Billy's second daughter, Lindsay, arrived in 1977, and she chose a unique path in the entertainment world as a director and producer. Her career includes a variety of films and documentaries, most notably the 2004 documentary My Uncle Berns, which tells the story of her great-uncle and received positive reviews from critics.
Lindsay has collaborated with her dad on various projects, including HBO's 61*, which was directed by him and received multiple Emmy nominations.
Although she has mostly stayed out of the spotlight, the 47-year-old first appeared on screen in her father's movie City Slickers and also had a part in its follow-up, City Slickers 2.
Navigating Fatherhood And Grandfatherhood
Once Billy and Janice welcomed parenthood, he reflected on the significant shift in their relationship. "When I became a dad for the first time in 1973, Janice was busy with her job while I was just beginning my stand-up career in the evenings. That meant I took on the role of 'Mr. Mom' during the day, and it completely transformed my life," he shared with People.
"As a 25-year-old parent of a baby who relies on you every hour of the day, it’s a huge responsibility," he said. "Discovering the ability to love something even more than you love yourself has been the most incredible experience of my life."
The comedy icon shared, "My greatest achievement in life has been raising two incredible daughters who are now adults and mothers themselves. I hope they pass on to their kids, our four grandchildren, the importance of being responsible in a world that is always evolving."
When he became a grandparent, Billy shared his thoughts with The Guardian in 2013, saying, "The moment my daughter Jenny was expecting our first grandchild, Ella, was incredibly significant for me, especially since Jenny is my eldest daughter."
He went on to say, "It's important to appreciate how your children are raising their own kids. You shouldn’t overstep your boundaries or force your opinions where they don’t belong. Always keep in mind that these aren’t your children. Engage with them, show them affection, and indulge them as much as you want – then know when to let them go back."
