The latest movie, now available on Netflix starting July 3rd, marks the return of the popular comedy action series after 30 years since the release of its third installment in 1994. In this new film, Axel joins forces with a fresh partner and reunited with old pals to assist his attorney daughter when she faces danger for uncovering corruption within the Beverly Hills Police Department.

In the film helmed by Mark Molloy, audiences will also witness the comeback of Judge Reinhold portraying Detective Billy Rosewood and Bronson Pinchot as Serge. Kevin Bacon, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Taylour Paige are also part of the cast.

The reviews for the reboot are divided, with some critics saying it brings back feelings of nostalgia and others criticizing it.

Clarisse Loughrey, a writer for The Independent, said that the highly anticipated sequel did not meet current expectations in her review, which she rated two stars.

She stated: "The movie dares to make fun of the franchise's poorly received third installment, but ultimately falls flat, lacking any new ideas, meaningful messages, or material for Murphy to showcase his talent."

In the same way, The New York Times described it as a weak and uninspired action comedy with very few standout moments.

Yet, it seems that viewers on Netflix have responded very positively to the new movie.

"I just got done watching Beverly Hills Cop. It was such an amazing movie. I really hope they make another one. Thank you, Netflix," a user commented on X.

"One person said they had a great time," another person commented. "Comedy chaos is always enjoyable, just watching things spiral out of control and people coming up with more and more outlandish ideas."

"Eddie Murphy's return as the quick-witted detective Axel Foley is simply amazing. If you're looking for a movie to watch non-stop this weekend, make sure it's Beverly Hills Cop 4," another viewer suggested. They added that it's full of nostalgia, excitement, and action.

"I simply have to express my support for Beverly Hills Cop Axel F, he was absolutely fantastic," another person proclaimed. "I absolutely adored it."

Another person on Twitter said that the "latest Beverly Hills Cop movie on Netflix is surprisingly enjoyable," and praised Eddie Murphy's performance. Someone else described it as "absolutely fantastic."

Another person raved about Beverly Hills Cop, calling Axel Foley "amazing" and saying it met all their expectations. They loved the 80's feel and the perfect mix of action and humor. The movie flew by in just 2 hours because it was so enjoyable!

Murphy has revisited another 1980s movie besides Beverly Hills Cop. In 2021, he starred in Coming 2 America, a follow-up to the 1988 comedy Coming to America.

In a conversation with Collider in 2019, Murphy referred to the movies as a "closing chapter" to his career, which he began as a comedian in 1980.

The movie Beverly Hills Cop with the iconic character Axel F is now available for streaming on Netflix.
