Ethiopia celebrated a remarkable success at the Berlin Marathon on Sunday, with Milkesa Mengesha taking first place in the men's race and Tigist Ketema clinching victory in the women's category.

Mengesha, who is 24 years old, completed the race in two hours, three minutes, and 17 seconds, securing first place ahead of Kenyan runner Cyrbian Kotut in a closely contested duel that was decided in the last kilometer.

Ketema, 26, clinched a remarkable win with an impressive solo performance, finishing in two hours, 16 minutes, and 42 seconds. She crossed the finish line over two minutes faster than Mestawot Fikir and Bosena Mulatie.

Ketema recorded the third quickest time ever in the race's history, and Kikir and Mulatie rounded off an impressive podium finish for Ethiopia.

Milkesa Mengesha (ETH) completed the race in a time of 2 hours, 3 minutes, and 17 seconds.

Cybrian Kotut from Kenya finished with a time of 2 hours, 3 minutes, and 22 seconds.

3. Haymanot Alew (ETH) finished with a time of 02:03:31.

4. Stephen Kiprop (KEN): 2 hours, 3 minutes, and 37 seconds

5. Hailemariyam Kiros (ETH): 2 hours, 4 minutes, and 35 seconds
