Selena Gomez has revealed that she is engaged to music producer Benny Blanco, and their celebrity friends are thrilled about the news.
Emilia Pérez, 32, a rising star who received two Golden Globe nominations earlier this week, has been in a relationship with the 36-year-old songwriter for the past year.
Gomez announced the exciting news to her 422 million Instagram followers, captioning a photo of a dazzling engagement ring with the words "forever starts now."
The singer of "Same Old Love" received congratulations from numerous friends in Hollywood and the music industry in the comments on her Instagram post.
“Absolutely, I’ll be the flower girl,” Taylor Swift shared.
Singer and model Suki Waterhouse expressed her excitement by saying, "Congrats, gorgeous!" while Gwyneth Paltrow shouted, "SELENAAAAAAA!" with enthusiasm.
At the same time, rapper Cardi B shared her surprise, saying: "Wait a minute, hold on," and added a bunch of shocked emojis.
Blanco, who first collaborated with Gomez on her tracks "Same Old Love" and "Kill Em with Kindness" back in 2015, remarked, "Hold on... that's my wife."
Fans wasted no time in congratulating the singer, who once had a relationship with Justin Bieber, on her exciting announcement: “I’m really thrilled for her… just look at how lovely they appear together,” one user commented on X/Twitter.
"Congratulations to Selena! What a stunning ring!" another commenter said.
"Oh wow, she looks really joyful! That's awesome! Congratulations, Selena!!!" said another fan.
Gomez officially acknowledged her relationship with Blanco in December 2023, following weeks of speculation. She had interacted with a post from the celebrity news fan page PopFaction, which featured the headline, “Selena Gomez Seemingly Confirms That She Is in a Relationship.” In the comments section, Gomez responded with a simple “Facts.”
The couple soon found themselves facing backlash on the internet, as some fans argued that he wasn't deserving of Gomez. However, the "Wolves" artist was quick to respond.
"I’m confused," she replied. "If you truly care about me, then this is my happiest moment. Feel free to express whatever you want if you don't agree. But your words will never dictate how I live my life. I’m finished with this. If you can’t support me when I’m at my happiest, then I don’t want you in my life anymore."
When her brand Rare Beauty was recognized as one of the TIME100 Most Influential Companies of 2024, she expressed appreciation for her boyfriend, acknowledging his encouragement throughout their well-known relationship.
"I understand how people can treat those I care about. Even my own fans, whom I cherish and who have had a significant impact on my life, sometimes say really painful things about my choices. Yet, he possesses a resilience that allows him to remain completely unaffected by all that negativity," she explained.
"It's truly remarkable, and I value every second I get to spend with him. While I can't predict what lies ahead, I'm certain he’s here to stay for a while."
In an October interview with Vanity Fair, Gomez enthusiastically spoke about her deep bond with Blanco.
"I have never experienced love like this before," she shared. "He has truly brought so much joy into my life. He’s my closest companion, and I enjoy sharing everything with him."
