Selena Gomez & Benny Blanco Are Engaged
It's confirmed: Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco are set to marry! "Forever starts now," Gomez shared as she revealed the exciting news in an Instagram post on December 11, prominently featuring her engagement ring.
In the comments, Blanco reacted by saying, “Hold on… That’s my spouse.”
The Instagram post features a series of images, kicking off with a detailed shot of Gomez’s engagement ring, which has a marquise-cut diamond on a pavé band. Her nails were stylishly done in a soft pink, perfect for the occasion. Following that, there's an image of Gomez sitting on a picnic blanket—possibly from the engagement moment—with a sparkling drink and some leftover Taco Bell nearby.
Gomez and Blanco have been open about their relationship since December 2023. They've known each other in a professional capacity for quite some time, having collaborated on several successful tracks. Blanco was behind the production of Gomez’s songs “Same Old Love” and “Kill Em with Kindness” in 2015, as well as "Trust Nobody" in 2016. They teamed up again for the hit song “I Can’t Get Enough” in 2019, which also featured J Balvin and Tainy. In 2023, Blanco produced her track “Single Soon.”
During her appearance on The Stephen Colbert Show earlier this month, Gomez kept her cards close to her chest and seemed unaware of any engagement plans. When Colbert inquired about Blanco's "intentions" regarding "America’s daughter," she responded, "I’m not certain, but I’m really enjoying myself."
It's absolutely true: Gomez has recently been nominated for two Golden Globe awards for her performances in the movie Emilia Pérez and the series Only Murders in the Building. Additionally, she received the Spotlight Award at the Indiewire Honors just last week for her work in the film.
The couple recently celebrated Thanksgiving together, with Blanco preparing a meal for 50 guests. They've been regulars at various events and award ceremonies, and for Halloween, they dressed up as Alice in Wonderland and the Mad Hatter.
In a prior conversation with Vanity Fair, Gomez mentioned that both she and the producer don’t feel rushed to get married. "We prioritize safeguarding our relationship, but we don’t follow any strict guidelines," she explained. "I want him to remain true to himself, and I want to stay true to who I am."
"I've never experienced love like this before," the Rare Beauty founder said. "He's truly a bright spot in my life. My best friend. I enjoy sharing everything with him."
In May, Blanco, who has produced hits for artists like Gomez, Rihanna, Britney Spears, and SZA, was a guest on The Howard Stern Show. He openly shared his feelings about his relationship, saying, "Whenever I see her, I can’t imagine a better world than the one we have right now."
Friends and colleagues from the industry joined in on the celebration in the comments on Instagram. "Absolutely, I’ll be the flower girl!" Taylor Swift commented. Among the thousands expressing their well-wishes were celebrities like Jennifer Aniston, Gwyneth Paltrow, Cardi B, and Lil Nas X.
There’s one custom that Gomez has made it clear she intends to avoid. “I won’t be changing my name, no matter what. I will always be Selena Gomez. That’s final.”
