A message on Beccy's social media account announced the unfortunate news that Beccy passed away peacefully earlier today.

She spent her final days at St John's Hospice in Lancaster. The hospice gave Beccy and her family very respectful and caring support. To honor Beccy's memory, donations can be made to the hospice.

Many people have shared their thoughts and feelings about Beccy, including friends, ex-coworkers, and fans. Roger Johnson, another newsreader from BBC, also mentioned that Beccy showed great bravery in various aspects of her life. One of the most notable ways was when she decided to step away from her thriving career in television to become a firefighter. She quickly proved herself in this new role as well. My condolences go out to her daughter and loved ones in this difficult time.

Elaine Dunkley from the BBC expressed her sadness upon hearing the news. She described Beccy as stunning, like a superhero or supermodel.

Beccy was so smart, strong, and really nice. Whenever she came in for a late shift, she would always make us laugh. I was a huge admirer of hers!

Lancaster MP Cat Smith expressed her condolences saying: "I am deeply saddened to hear this news, my thoughts are with those grieving her loss. She has left a lasting impact on the world with her passion and dedication that few can compare to."

Beccy began her professional journey over two decades ago at the Blackpool Citizen. Throughout her successful career in journalism, she held positions at Bloomberg News and CNBC. In 2013, she became a part of the North West Tonight team before transitioning to Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service, continuing the legacy of her father, before the onset of Covid.

In December, she shared on X, which used to be called Twitter, about her diagnosis. She said, "This year, I found out I have cancer that cannot be cured. I've learned two important things from this tough experience: 1) Life is unpredictable. 2) People have an amazing and limitless ability to show love, support, and friendship."
