In the 93rd over, the Australian score was at 378-5 with Marsh on 30 and Carey on 26. Shaheen returned to bowl but he wasn't performing at his best. His second ball was a wide full toss, which Marsh hit well, but unfortunately could not find the gap. Although Shaheen is considered the leader of the Pakistani attack, he hasn't been delivering on his potential, being too short, wide, and expensive. He wasn't attacking the stumps as often as he should either. Luckily, neither of the Australian batsmen were in the zone, or the score would have been over 400 by now, leaving Pakistan on the back foot. Marsh only managed to take a single from the last ball, which was a poor return considering the performance of the over.
As the match progresses, we reach the 92nd over where the Australian team has scored 377-5 with Marsh and Carey playing their part. The bowling team decides to bring on Faheem Ashraf for a new approach. He struggles initially with two balls being wide and poor, although Carey doesn't seem to take advantage of the opportunity. Ashraf did take the wicket of Marnus Labuschagne through LBW during the previous match but also struggled against Warner, and it ended up costing his team 65 runs. Despite his previous performance, he manages to complete a maiden over this time.
In the 91st over of the match, Australia are currently 377-5 with Marsh on 29 and Carey on 26. Shaheen starts the over and Marsh quickly takes a single. Then, Carey faces a full toss on the third ball, but unfortunately, he cannot hit it away and they only manage to get one run initially. However, due to some mistakes in the field, they eventually get a couple of overthrows. Shaheen's bowling worsens as he tries to throw a yorker but doesn't get it right, resulting in Marsh hitting it with his pad and getting the ball scrambled past the fine leg boundary. The over ends with another poor delivery by Shaheen, which Marsh can't hit properly, therefore no runs are scored.
As the 90th over begins, Australia's score is 369-5 and Marsh and Carey are at the crease. The umpires have been taking a while to move things along, as is common in modern games. During this period, Australia managed to score an additional 22 runs. The only moment of drama came in the first over when an LBW appeal was made. Carey is still struggling with his shot selection and is fishing for shots outside off stump. Unfortunately for Afghanistan, Shahzad was unable to take the edge.
During the 89th over of the game, Australia's score was 368-5 with Marsh scoring 27 and Carey scoring 23. Shaheen improved Carey's performance by letting him hit a large half volley on a platter for his first ball of the over. Carey showed his gratitude by nodding and hitting it for four. Shaheen reacted well by pitching it faster and wider which led to Carey stepping out and swiping. It was a great competition between the batter who was fighting for his position in the team and the bowler who was improving his skills as a spearhead.
In the 88th over, Australia scored 364-5 with Marsh and Carey at bat. Shahzad took to the field for his 19th over, having already achieved a significant feat on Day 1 by dismissing Steve Smith. However, his ball speed was slightly slower than his previous best of 137kph. Marsh was initially playing cautiously, as is his style, but it was only a matter of time before he smacked a delivery for a six, sending the ball flying into the grandstand.
87 overs have been completed and Australia's score is now 359-5, with Marsh on 23 and Carey on 19. It seems that Carey is feeling the pressure at the moment, as his scoring rate has dropped to below 40 - unusual for him, as he is known to be a skilled and elegant batsman. It is speculated that the incident with Bairstow's stumping in a previous match may still be affecting him. Nevertheless, Carey is clearly eager to get some momentum back and add some runs to the board. He attempts to hit Shaheen's fourth ball, managing to get it past mid-on but failing to get the timing right, which means he only manages to score three runs.
The cricket match is now in the 86th over with the Australian team scoring 356-5 and Marsh and Carey are currently on the pitch. Khurram Shahzad is going to continue bowling from the other side and he was considered to be the best of the Pakistani bowlers yesterday. He showed great effort and power when Marsh and Carey couldn't get a hit in. This gave his team hope, which was lost when Warner's innings happened for most of the day. Marsh is currently being cautious as Shahzad pitches a few balls in order to get him to plant his foot and make a straight drive. In the fifth ball, Shahzad finally gets an edge but it's from Marsh while he's moving back and it goes through the slips and gets another four. Marsh hits the cherry ball on the middle and leg which leads to another boundary for their team.
In the 85th over of the cricket match, Australia's current score is 348-5 with Marsh scoring 15 and Carey scoring 16. It's Alex Carey's turn to face Shaheen Afridi's first ball, which is perfectly aimed. However, Carey doesn't seem to be fazed by the first ball, but the second ball confuses him. There's a big shout for a wicket, and it looks like it could be given, but Pakistan decides not to review. Upon reviewing, the ball missed hitting the top of middle peg, although Carey was hit inline. Shaheen Afridi then throws a fast yorker, but Carey keeps it out. Next, Carey manages to hit the ball behind square and takes two runs, but he wanted three. Unfortunately, Marsh sent him back. Overall, it's a solid start by Shaheen.
The players and umpires have taken their positions in the field and the first ball of day two is about to be thrown. Prepare for excitement and get ready for the game!
Yesterday, the West Australians were enthusiastically cheering for their local boy, Mitchell Marsh, who stepped up to the wicket. They are eagerly anticipating a great performance from him today. However, even the player that Marsh replaced received a lot of praise outside of the game.
David Warner had experienced a few difficult seasons, and before the recent match, he faced some negative comments from former player Mitchell Johnson. However, he entered the match with a fierce determination and delivered an outstanding performance. He scored an impressive 164 runs from 211 balls, including 16 fours and four sixes. Two of these sixes were particularly remarkable, as he executed them from a seated position with a scoop shot over fine leg. When he reached 100 runs, he celebrated with a jump and made a gesture that was likely aimed at Johnson, who was commentating on the match. Overall, it was a stunning display of skill and determination from Warner.
Despite speculation, Warner confirmed at a recent media briefing that he will retire after a final cricket match at the Sydney Cricket Ground. Fans are now wondering who will take over his spot at the top of the order. Will the selectors go with familiar, yet unproven, openers like Renshaw, Bancroft or Harris? Or will they choose an unexpected option, like placing Marsh in the opening position like his father Geoff did before him?

Hello everyone who loves cricket! Today is the second day of the first Test match between Australia and Pakistan at the Perth Stadium. I, Angus Fontaine, will be keeping you updated on the first part of the day's action, while Geoff Lemon will take over later.
The first day of the match was dominated by the Australian team. David Warner played a fantastic innings, scoring 164 runs, which helped Australia to reach a total of 346-5 by the end of the day. They played really well, scoring 117-0 in the first session, followed by 93-2 in the second and 136-3 in the third. While Usman Khawaja, Steve Smith, and Travis Head played well, none of them were able to stay on the pitch for too long. The team will continue their strong performance today, with Mitchell Marsh (15*) and Alex Carey (14*) set to continue the attack.
At the beginning, the bowlers from Pakistan were not performing well, but they improved after lunch. However, they were ultimately defeated by the end of the day. There were two players, Aamer Jamal and Khurram Shahzad, who made their debuts and gave a good impression even though the weather was hot and the conditions were tough. Despite this, the overall performance of the Pakistan team was not great as they allowed the opposing team to score easily. Additionally, they made errors in fielding such as dropping catches and missing a stumping opportunity, which only added to their poor performance.
Can Mitchell Marsh, who is a hero in his hometown and has recently returned to the Test side, play freely and aggressively this morning? Is it possible for Alex Carey to regain his form and score a significant inning while fending off competition from Josh Inglis, who is also a wicket-keeper batter? Alternatively, will Shaheen Afridi, the spearhead of Pakistan, be able to regain his energy and quickly take care of the lower-order batsmen? We will discover the answers very soon.
