The talented Sergio Reguilon delivered a fantastic cross which Yoann Wissa headed on to Mikel Damsgaard. Damsgaard then made a low cross, which Mathias Jorgensen missed with one leg, but it ended up hitting his other leg and went past Emiliano Martinez.
Brentford managed to equalize the score when Bryan Mbeumo, who hadn't played since December, skillfully volleyed in Reguilon's cross. They then took the lead when Villa wasted time as Brentford quickly took a free kick. While the Villa defenders slowly returned to their positions, Mads Roerslev passed the ball across the field to Reguilon, who passed low to Wissa, who was unmarked and easily tapped in the goal.
It was now Villa's opportunity to come back. They responded quickly and managed to level the game when Bailey sent a deep cross. Flekken attempted to come out of his goal but failed to get near the ball, allowing Watkins to score with a header. Later in the game, Ivan Toney was substituted in despite having a small hip issue.
The game was intense and fast-paced earlier, but now it had turned into a high-pressure situation. Digne attempted an impressive flying scissors kick, but unfortunately missed. Despite the added time of seven minutes, Brentford managed to withstand Villa's onslaught.
