Aston Villa Seals 2-1 Victory Over Brentford With Two Late Goals

In the second half of the game, two players received red cards. Ben Mee was sent off for a tackle that was considered dangerous by the referee. Later on, Boubacar Kamara was dismissed as a result of a headbutt in the final moments. Emiliano Martinez, who was involved in an altercation with Neal Maupay, was lucky to avoid being sent off before the game came to an end.

Bees Take Lead As Lewis-Potter Scores Debut PL Goal

After Brentford's 1-0 loss to Sheffield United, Thomas Frank decided to make some adjustments. He made three substitutions and altered the team's setup. Zanka, Mikkel Damsgaard and Mads Roerslev were brought on to replace Frank Onyeka, Shandon Baptiste and Maupay.

Aston Villa gave Moreno and Jacob Ramsey their first Premier League starts for this season. The two players had to step in as replacements for Lucas Digne, who was injured, and Douglas Luiz, who was suspended. Additionally, Matty Cash and Moussa Diaby were called in to take the spots of Leon Bailey and Youri Tielemans.

In the beginning of the game, Villa played very well for the first five minutes and managed to get four corners, which is very impressive. Moreno, who plays as a defender on the left side, had two good opportunities to score during this time. However, one of his shots was saved by the opposing team's goalkeeper, and the other shot went above the goalpost very easily.

Shortly after, Brentford got their chance to score. Lewis-Potter and Vitaly Janelt did some great teamwork on the left side, leading to Janelt crossing the ball into the box. The ball missed Yoane Wissa but ended up with Mikkel Damsgaard who took a shot from inside the area. Unfortunately, Martínez didn't find it difficult to save the shot that was aimed low.

The Aston Villa team had their turn to try their chances when Watkins used his head to bring down a high pass from Diego Carlos, giving it to Jacob Ramsey. The midfielder received the ball inside the box, but with Ethan Pinnock on his heels, he kicked it wide of the goal.

Right before the end of the first half, Ghoddos passed a corner kick with force into the penalty box but missed most of the Bees players and the ball luckily landed on Lewis-Potter. With Moreno coming towards him, the forward rapidly prepared himself and hit a half-volley smoothly into the goal, which was his very first goal in the Premier League.

Wissa believed he had quickly increased the score for the hosts by scoring a second goal, however, Villa's consistent offside trap proved successful once more. They caught Wissa in an unauthorized position and the goal was not counted.

Villa Duo Seals Dramatic Comeback Amidst Gtech Stadium Scuffle

Similarly to the beginning of the initial half, Aston Villa dominated the possession of the ball, yet they struggled to generate noteworthy opportunities. They attempted numerous corner kicks, but failed to capitalize on them, resulting in Kamara's header missing the mark.

During the Brentford match, a free-kick led to Damsgaard receiving the ball on the wing. He then made an excellent cross to Wissa, but unfortunately, Martínez stopped his header.

In the 71st minute of the game, Ben Mee received a red card after a review by VAR. The referee, David Coote, even utilized the pitchside monitor to make his decision. Mee's tackle was made at a high speed and just made contact with Leon Bailey. As a result, the referee deemed the tackle serious enough to warrant a red card.

After some time, VAR did not take any action when Maupay fell in the penalty box. The replacement player positioned himself amid Konsa and the ball. Although Konsa pushed him from behind, the referee, Coote, chose to continue with the game and did not award a penalty.

With only 15 minutes left in the game, Villa managed to even the score when Moreno quietly slipped into position at the far end of the post and used his head to score from a short distance.

Shortly after the game started, the visitors took the lead. Watkins found the ball inside the penalty area from a corner and won the battle against Vitaly Janelt to score with his head from close range.

Despite being down to 10 players, the Bees continued to work hard. Konsa attempted a back pass, but Martínez miscalculated and it almost resulted in a goal, narrowly missing the post. The Bees then had a couple of opportunities from the ensuing set-piece.

Near the end of the game, Villa received their second red card. Martínez managed to avoid getting one for pulling up Maupay's shirt. Then, Kamara got expelled for making contact with Yehor Yarmoliuk's head during the ensuing brawl.

In Brentford's recent match, the team consisted of Flekken, Roerslev, Mee (who was sent off in the 71st minute), Pinnock, Zanka, Ghoddos, Janelt (who was replaced by Yarmoliuk in the 88th minute), Nørgaard, Damsgaard (substituted with Onyeka in the 68th minute), Wissa (who was swapped with Collins in the 76th minute), and Lewis-Potter (who was replaced by Maupay in the 68th minute).

Four players, namely Strakosha, Goode, Peart-Harris, and Baptiste were not included in the game.

Aston Villa fielded a team which consisted of Martínez, Konsa, Diego Carlos, Pau (Zaniolo 81), Àlex Moreno, Cash (Bailey 65), Kamara (who was sent off in the 90+7 minute), Ramsey, McGinn, Diaby (Durán 65), and Watkins.

The football players who didn't participate in the game were Marschall, Proctor, Chambers, Lenglet, Dendoncker, and Iroegbunam.

Frank Reflects On Unfavorable Decisions

Thomas Frank shared his perspective on the Bees' loss to Aston Villa and also spoke about the judgments that did not favor his team.

He expressed that he was pleased with how well the players performed, their level of effort, mental attitude and how hard they worked - immeasurable in many aspects. However, the outcome left him feeling somewhat disheartened given that they had nothing to show for their efforts.

Today, we encountered some challenging circumstances. Even though it's tough to handle, it's simply a part of the game. We can't change it, so we have to adapt and move forward.

I experienced two scenarios during the game. Firstly, Neal Maupay received a penalty, which I believe to be evident, resulting in a 2-0 lead. Secondly, Ben Mee received a red card, which in my opinion, was undeserved.

We require uniformity and regularity. It is crucial that we work towards improving the VAR technology, and the only path to achieve this is by recognizing errors and progressing. I am firm in my conviction regarding this matter.

Lewis-Potter Ecstatic After Scoring Debut Premier League Goal

Keane Lewis-Potter expressed his pure joy in scoring his initial Premier League goal against Aston Villa.

“I’m really excited about it, but at the same time, I feel let down that we weren't able to secure a win and earn three points,” he expressed.

"The ball fell down, and I managed to kick it right in front of Moreno before sending it flying into the goal. The sensation of scoring was fantastic."

The man who used to play for Hull City stated: "It took a while for me to achieve that, I believe! Celebrating with the fans and the team on the field was fantastic. When I was down there, Saman [Ghoddos] gave me a few hits!"
