Twitch streamer Asmongold has faced a ban on one of his channels after making comments that referred to Palestinians as "terrible people" and their culture as "inferior."

Zack Hoyt, the well-known streamer recognized as Asmongold, has received a temporary suspension from Twitch due to making offensive comments of a racist nature.

During his broadcast on Monday, the World of Warcraft streamer addressed the situation in Gaza, where more than 40,000 Palestinians have lost their lives. After his remarks, snippets from the stream were circulated on social media and received significant backlash.

"In his view, if one defines genocide as the organized extermination of a group, then there's a form of it already inherent in Sharia law. He expressed a lack of sympathy for those who participate in such actions, stating, 'I won't shed any tears for people who have genocide encoded in their legal system. I don’t care. They behave in awful ways. It's obvious, and it’s surprising that others fail to recognize this.'"

He went on to say, "If it were the other way around, the Palestinians would act in much the same way. The number of casualties on their side would be substantial, just like they would want. However, they don’t possess the same quantity of bombs and weaponry as Israel does, so their impact is limited. If they had similar resources, they would likely pursue the same course of action. It's important to recognize that these individuals are not your friends."

"They are different from us. Their culture, which is often seen as less developed, has serious issues, including violence against individuals based on their identity. This culture contradicts the core values we hold dear in the West. In many respects, it falls short when compared to ours. It's really that straightforward."

After the reactions and criticism on social media, Twitch has put a temporary ban on Hoyt’s primary channel, Zackrawrr. Currently, if you attempt to visit the channel page, you'll see a message stating, ‘This channel is temporarily unavailable due to a breach of Twitch’s community guidelines or terms of service.’

Hoyt has another Twitch channel called Asmongold, which hasn't been impacted, but he hasn't broadcasted on it in the last two years.

Twitch has stated (through IGN) that his comments violated the platform's policy against hateful conduct. This policy strictly prohibits actions driven by hate, bias, or intolerance, which includes any behavior that promotes or supports discrimination, belittlement, harassment, or violence based on various protected traits. These traits include race, ethnicity, color, caste, national origin, immigration status, religion, sex, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, serious health conditions, and veteran status.

The duration of the Zackrawrr channel's downtime is uncertain. GameCentral has contacted Twitch for more information.

Hoyt has since tried to express regret for his remarks on Twitter after being banned. He reflected, "Upon reflection, I was really out of line regarding the situation in Palestine."

"I apologize. No one should have their life ruined, regardless of their actions or beliefs that I might disagree with. You all deserve more than me saying thoughtless things like that, and I promise to improve."

Not everyone is swayed by his attitude. One commenter remarked, "Saying 'my bad' really demonstrates how little empathy you have." Another person chimed in, saying, "Nobody is buying that feeble apology."

Hoyt has stirred up controversy before. Earlier this year, he faced backlash for labeling the recipient of a streaming award as just a "diversity pick." He also received criticism for his comment that "artists don't matter."
