Arnold Schwarzenegger has expressed remorse for his intense and uncontrollable competition with Sylvester Stallone.
During the peak of their successful careers, the two action heroes were frequently compared and contrasted against each other. One was known as the star of the Terminator franchise while the other led the Rocky franchise. In the past, Stallone stated that Schwarzenegger had found their failures amusing. This caused Stallone to hurl a container of flowers at Schwarzenegger when Rocky was ultimately awarded the Best Motion Picture - Drama accolade.
In the following years, they continuously attempted to outdo one another. During interviews, they would hurl insults at each other and strive to surpass their rival's portrayal of weapons and on-screen homicides in their respective films.
During an interview with David Letterman in 2013, Stallone stated that he developed a liking towards the competitive aspect of the job.
