The Met Office has predicted that the UK will experience rain and chilly winds, with temperatures dropping below the usual levels. They also indicated there may be some areas of light frost.

The weather is expected to be windy with some rain showers, and there's a slight chance of thunder and hail, especially in the northern region, according to the weather report for Wednesday.

On Wednesday, there could be some snowfall or sleet in the Scottish highlands, as temperatures are expected to be around 4 to 5 degrees Celsius lower than usual for this season. In Scotland, temperatures will range from 10 to 13 degrees Celsius, while southern England will experience milder conditions, with temperatures between 13 and 16 degrees Celsius.

Clare Nasir, a meteorologist from the Met Office, stated, "Yesterday, we experienced strong winds in the northeast of Scotland along with some continuous rain, all due to this low-pressure system."

"This low-pressure system and its location will keep influencing our weather over the next few days."

She explained that this indicates "rainy periods, occasional sunshine, and a chilly breeze."

Rain will persist into Wednesday evening and overnight, but it will lessen inland while becoming more common in northern and western regions.

Some places may experience frost overnight as temperatures fall to 4°C or 5°C, but sunny weather is expected to follow.

Ms. Nasir stated that winds will be gentler in inland regions, with rain expected mainly along the coast. Some showers could also occur further inland, but there will be drier periods mixed in, along with a combination of clouds and sunshine. Temperatures in the southern areas will reach around 14°C to 15°C.

Friday is expected to be mostly dry, following a chance of scattered frost on Thursday night.

She mentioned, "A high-pressure system is approaching, which means we'll begin with chilly temperatures and some localized frost. However, this will also bring us some sunny weather."

"Things will take a turn as we move into the weekend, coming from the northwest."

This weekend, temperatures are predicted to become more normal for this time of year, reaching as high as 21°C in the southern regions.

Weather expert Tom Morgan mentioned, “The southern region will experience significantly warmer and more stable conditions, whereas western Scotland is expected to face rainy and windy weather.”

"Next week will bring more typical September weather as well."
