Imagine seeing a cold drink in a grocery store in the refrigerated section. Well, that's kind of how the upcoming weather in the UK is looking. The forecast is predicting an "arctic blast" and freezing temperatures for next week, right after some intense thunderstorms.

The WXCharts site, which uses weather information from a service known as MetDesk, indicates that the upcoming weather event will occur on the following dates and times: next Wednesday (from midnight to 6am, and then from 9pm to 12am), Thursday (from 12am to 6am, and then from 9pm to 12am), and Friday (from midnight to 6am).

In the coming days, it is forecasted that temperatures in the UK will range from zero to five degrees Celsius, staying in single digits.

The update arrives following Brits being amazed by intense thunder and lightning on Saturday night and Sunday morning, with one person likening the situation to The War of the Worlds - a book by H. G. Wells about Martians attacking Earth.

The weather forecasters at the Met Office warned that heavy rain could cause flooding and disruptions in the southern parts of England and Wales from Saturday night until Sunday evening. They issued a yellow weather alert for these areas during that time period.

During their weekend weather report released on Friday, the organization mentioned that the upcoming days will have a varied weather outlook for the UK. The southern regions can expect periods of heavy rain, while the northern areas will see clearer skies and sunshine.

The main weather expert, Matthew Lehnert, mentioned that there will be a continuous pattern of rain in the southern part of Britain in the coming days, causing some localized problems until the weekend. He also stated that there is a possibility of issuing more warnings for the upcoming weekend.

In the northern regions, the weather is quite different because there is a high-pressure system bringing warm and sunny weather. The temperatures are higher than usual, especially in parts of western Scotland. However, areas to the east may be cooler and occasionally cloudy due to winds coming in from the North Sea.

Although WXCharts predict extremely cold weather in the upcoming days, the Met Office stated that it will be noticeably cooler and there will be scattered showers, extended periods of rain, and strong winds across the UK.
