London set for 'Arctic blast' after weekend of wet weather

Arctic blast UK weather

Britain is going to experience a sudden drop in temperatures this week when an "Arctic blast" arrives, following a rainy weekend.

After a week of temperatures reaching about 20C most days, London is forecasted to have a high of only 15C from Wednesday to Friday next week, as reported by BBC Weather.

Cold temperatures and additional rainfall are expected when an extreme cold front hits, according to the Mail, beginning on Tuesday and continuing through Wednesday.

In a statement on Sunday, Craig Snell, a forecaster from the Met Office, mentioned that in the upcoming days, cooler air from the Arctic will gradually start to make its way in, starting from Tuesday and continuing into Wednesday and beyond.

"Our first taste of autumn weather is on its way in the middle of the week. Daytime temperatures will be in the mid-teens, and at night, some areas will drop to the low to mid single digits."

The organization issued a cautionary weather alert for large areas of the country during the weekend, causing many residents of London to be startled awake by thunderstorms on Sunday morning.

A statement from the Met Office mentioned that while there may be some sunshine in the southeast on Sunday, there is a chance of more slow-moving thunderstorms occurring.

This caution will be in effect until 6pm on Sunday, and there may be more warnings issued during that time. The warning might be heightened to amber on a smaller scale if there is a higher likelihood of impacts happening.

The weather experts mentioned that temperatures will feel more refreshing and cooler as the week goes on, and the forecast is still uncertain.

"In the future," the statement added, "we can expect lower temperatures to move through the UK, particularly cooling down significantly in the northern regions by the middle of the week.

The weather is expected to be unstable next week, with showers or periods of rain in most areas, along with strong winds.
