Archie Gray poised to leave Leeds for Brentford in £40m deal

Archie Gray

Archie Gray is expected to move from Leeds to Brentford. The Premier League team is feeling more and more assured that they will beat out other competitors, such as Chelsea and Tottenham, to sign the 18-year-old player.

Gray is set to be transferred for a fee of around £35 million, which could increase to £40 million. Leeds seems to have accepted that they will have to part ways with the highly skilled player, either as a midfielder or right-back, in order to adhere to financial regulations.

Discussions have progressed to the point where personal terms have been agreed upon and a medical examination has been scheduled. Fans of Leeds are beginning to accept the fact that they may be losing one of their most promising young players.

Gray, the beloved relative of the legendary ex-Leeds player and coach Eddie Gray, participated in 52 matches this season for Daniel Farke's team. Unfortunately, they just fell short of promotion, losing in the Championship play-off final to Southampton.

At the age of eight, he became a part of the Leeds academy and has played for England's youth teams at every level up to the under-21 team. Gray was honored with the award for young Championship player of the season in 2023-24.

Gray, who will not reach 19 years old until March, was frequently used by Farke as a right-back. However, it is believed that he will eventually solidify his position as a central midfielder.

He had caught the attention of top clubs in England and other countries, and Brentford's manager, Thomas Frank, might be worried that another team will steal this significant transfer deal from his club.
