During his conversation with Louis Theroux, Anthony Joshua shared that he was sporting his Team GB tracksuit at the time when police stopped him for drug possession in 2011. He also expressed his belief that the officers stopped him due to his physical appearance, being both large in size and having a black complexion.

Before he became a boxing champion, Joshua had a difficult childhood. During his amateur boxing career, he was required to wear an electronic monitoring device because he was caught carrying a class B drug with plans to sell it.

The professional fighter spoke openly about the challenges he faced during his younger years in his in-depth conversation with Theroux on the BBC.

Joshua disclosed that he had donned the attire of the UK's Olympic team during an encounter with law enforcement in the upper region of London many years ago, during which he was found in possession of eight ounces of marijuana. He stated that he was targeted due to his skin color and social connections.

He stated that it was not his destiny to become a champion. He found himself incarcerated in Reading prison back in 2009. Later on, in 2011, while being on the Olympic team, he got caught and arrested. Due to the pressure of the situation, his smoking habit became worse over time.

Anthony Joshua asserted that he was dressed in his Team GB tracksuit at the time he was apprehended by law enforcement officials in 2011 for carrying around eight ounces of marijuana.

Joshua claimed that he got stopped by the police because of his physical appearance and skin color. He mentioned that his complexion and association did not match with what the officers were looking for.

During his interview with Louis Theroux, he shared that he had almost been disqualified from the Olympics team.

"The eight ounces" may appear as a substantial amount of money. As a person of size and dark complexion, even traveling at 20 miles per hour can result in accusations of speeding. Unfortunately, your physical appearance and connections can determine the treatment you receive. This is an unfortunate reality of the situation.

When questioned about his conversation with the officers, he responded with, "I conveyed that I am their representative. Are you kidding me?"

He stated that his spot on the Olympic team was at great risk until his coach and guide, Rob McCracken argued for him to be reintroduced.

I have a lot of respect for the Olympic committee. Unfortunately, they had to remove me from the committee due to a certain incident. As a result, I turned back to smoking cigarettes.

One of the guys at my gym, Sean Murphy, contacted my mother and advised her to bring me back to the gym, saying that I possess a unique skill set. After approximately six months, my trainer, Rob McCracken, supported Sean's suggestion and convinced her to bring me back to the gym. Rob assured her that with his help, I would be able to get my life back on track.

Joshua won a gold medal for Team GB in the 2012 Olympics, a full year following his altercation with the police.

Despite the legal issues he faced, Joshua managed to achieve the title of heavyweight champion twice.

One year after his encounter with law enforcement, Joshua started to transform his lifestyle. He acquired a silver medal at the World Championships held in Baku in 2011 and later clinched a gold medal at the London 2012 Olympics.

His accomplishment elevated his status and paved the way for him to pursue a career as a professional boxer in 2013.

After only 16 fights, he was able to become a world champion when he defeated Charles Martin to take the IBF belt in 2016. This lead to him becoming a well-known and popular figure, as well as the unified heavyweight champion thanks to his victories over Wladimir Klitschko and Joseph Parker.

Joshua's career is beginning to falter with recent losses. He suffered a surprising knockout defeat by an underestimated Mexican fighter named Andy Ruiz in 2019. Although he avenged this loss later that same year, he then lost two consecutive matches against Oleksandr Usyk. These losses show weaknesses in Joshua's career.

In the documentary, Joshua shared some intimate details about his life, including the reason why he still resides with his mother despite being 34 years old. He also shared that in the future, whoever wants to be in a relationship with him must accept his family along with all their customs and traditions.

In the blog post, Joshua shared the reason why he remains residing with his mother Yeta Odusanya despite being 34 years old.

The BBC interviewed a double world champion who revealed that they still reside with their mother. The athlete explained that in their culture it is common to stay in the family home and provide assistance to one's parents.

Why should I abandon my mother and live alone with a woman? Family is the utmost crucial thing.

When a young woman chooses to be with me, she isn't only committing to me, but also to my entire family.

The down-to-earth boxing champ, who's not currently known to be in a romantic partnership, confessed that he prefers to keep details of his personal life to himself because he feels that he may not meet people's high standards.

He went on to say, "Will every word I utter be scrutinized and twisted to fit a specific narrative? This is why I prefer to maintain my privacy and not share too much."

You feel the need to have a grand entrance and be flawless.

Let me warn you, they will bring you down. The higher you rise, the harder the fall will be.
