Andrew Tate questioned and Romania homes raided as inquiry widens

The Romanian authorities have conducted searches at the residences of Andrew Tate, a polarizing social media personality, as part of a probe into fresh accusations made against him.

He and his brother Tristan were brought from their house in Bucharest to the headquarters of Romania's agency for organized crime, DIICOT, where they are going to be interviewed now.

The person who is famous online was already in trouble for rape and human trafficking, but they might now have to deal with more charges for having sex with and trafficking minors, as well as illegally moving money around and trying to intimidate witnesses, according to prosecutors.

Andrew and Tristan Tate, who are popular on social media, have refused to acknowledge any of the accusations made against them.

They were initially held in Romania in December 2022, but later freed from confinement in their home in August 2023.

As per a report from DIICOT, the special prosecution team of the Romanian Organised Crime Directorate, four residences were raided on Wednesday morning in Bucharest and Ilfov county.

The BBC has learned that this inquiry is related to Andrew Tate and that these investigations have been ongoing for a while.

The siblings were taken to the DIICOT headquarters in police vehicles, where they were greeted by a few journalists and well-wishers.

Both men were not restrained, but they were accompanied by police officers who were heavily armed.

When Andrew Tate walked into the building, he greeted a blogger from the area who questioned why he had returned to DIICOT. With a smile on his face, Tate responded that he was unsure before shouting as the door closed behind him that he was in his preferred location.

Two officers wearing balaclavas were spotted carrying large sacks into a building. It is likely that these sacks contained items taken during the search of the brothers' home and other properties.

When asked to give his opinion on the most recent updates, their attorney, Eugen Vidineac, stated that he could not provide a clear response since he had not yet reviewed the document containing the latest accusations.

He mentioned that he is still unsure about the situation we are facing.

Authorities at DIICOT have a day to interview the brothers. If they decide to keep them in custody, they must take them to court within that time frame.

The lawyer mentioned that he was not anticipating for the brothers to be held in custody because their activities are already limited as they await trial for different offenses, such as creating an organized crime group and trafficking humans.

After the raid happened, Andrew Tate shared on X (previously known as Twitter): "The Matrix is actually real. And they have a well-established plan."

Gossiping is their top weapon, and the act itself serves as their form of punishment. Fortunately, in the end, Goodness always prevails.

Andrew Tate has openly admitted to being a misogynist and was previously banned from various social media platforms for sharing his misogynistic beliefs.

He has continuously stated that Romanian prosecutors do not have any proof against him and believe there is a plot to shut him up.

The Tate brothers, who were once kickboxers and have citizenship in both the UK and US, are being accused of taking advantage of women through an adult content business. Prosecutors claim that this business was actually operating as a criminal organization.

Two women from Romania were accused with the brothers in a legal document released in June of last year, and a total of seven potential victims were identified.

Internet personalities are being sought after in the UK for their alleged involvement in unrelated sexual offenses.
