The Welsh dancer, who is 33 years old and began appearing on Strictly in 2017, made the announcement that she would no longer be able to participate in the BBC show. This was due to her diagnosis of stage three breast cancer in May 2023. Recently, she has gone through a mastectomy, chemotherapy, and treatment for fertility.

Dowden posted on Instagram on Monday to keep her followers informed about her health status after a sudden visit to the hospital's respiratory department.

She wrote a description underneath the pictures of her being at the hospital: "Last week didn't go as expected. I'm feeling better now and still being cautious."

I am extremely grateful to the NHS and the respiratory unit for the exceptional treatment they provided. I also appreciate the unwavering support of my family members, especially Ben, who always made time for me and stayed with me through long periods of slumber.

"I'm feeling a lot better now and I appreciate all the messages I received when I wasn't active. Today, I'm headed to the oncology unit to get my monthly injection, which I couldn't get last week because I was unwell."

Amy Dowden has provided an update on her Instagram account.

Less than a fortnight after Dowden astonished her colleagues from Strictly in Nottingham while on their tour, she shared the update on social media.

Following the conclusion of the 2023 season of the dance competition program, which was won by Ellie Leach and Vito Copolla from Coronation Street, several members of the cast - such as Krishnan Guru-Murthy, Angela Rippon, Annabel Croft, and Bobby Brazier - revealed they would be participating in the live tour of Strictly Come Dancing.

On a variety of occasions, the ensemble published images on Instagram of Dowden unexpectedly appearing in their changing area.

Having completed her final chemotherapy session in November, Dowden expressed her desire to participate in Strictly again in the upcoming year and emerge victorious by claiming the highly coveted Glitterball Trophy.

Prior to the beginning of the upcoming year, Dowden expressed feeling deprived of 2023 due to being diagnosed with cancer. She eagerly anticipated being both strong and healthy by the year 2024.

Although Dowden was unable to participate in the competition portion of the program, the producers of Strictly had consistently found ways to involve her in other aspects of the show.

Her unexpected appearance while reading the rules and regulations added joy to her admirers. At the final event held in December of the previous year, Dowden amazed fans by participating in the initial performance of the night. As a result, the audience witnessed the winning moment of Ellie Leach, a prominent figure in Coronation Street, and her expert dance partner Vito Coppola, who became the victors of Strictly in 2023.
